The Weekly Update #4
April 28th, 2026
On May 5th, voters in the Linden Community Schools (LCS) district will consider a Zero-Tax-Rate-Increase Sinking Fund Replacement that would continue funding for critical school facility needs without increasing the current tax rate.
The proposal includes a levy rate of 1.1760 mills for 10 years (2027–2036) and replaces the district’s existing sinking fund, which expires December 31, 2026. If approved, the measure would allow LCS to continue addressing facility, safety, and infrastructure needs while keeping instructional dollars focused on students and classrooms.

Central Elementary Plants a "Wishtree"
During March is reading month, students at Central Elementary read the book, "Wishtree" by Katherine Applegate. The book follows the story of "Red", an old oak tree, that people tie their wishes to. The book follows different themes of acceptance, community, empathy and kindness.
On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Kelly O'Connell, technology and media specialist at Central, made the "Wishtree" a reality for Central Elementary. An oak tree was donated by Branching Out Nursey. The oak tree was planted and will be cared for by Ronald Tree Service.
