Report card & PowerTeacher Pro Information
Report Card & PowerTeacher Pro Follow Up
Please see the email sent out last week reguarding the new reporting system being adopted by Red Deer Public Schools.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well.
Here at Red Deer Public Schools, we are excited to share an update about how we will be communicating your child’s learning progress moving forward. Beginning this year, all classes in grades 1-5 will be moving to a Live Reporting system, using PowerTeacher Pro.
What this means for you is that, instead of waiting for formal reporting periods, you will now be able to see feedback on your child’s learning as it is entered throughout the term. As teachers assess student work and update assignments in PowerTeacher Pro, you will have ongoing access to this information in your PowerSchool Parent Portal.
The goal of this shift is to:
Improve communication with parents by providing more timely updates on student learning
Streamline the reporting process so that information is shared in a more continuous and transparent way
Teachers will continuously add new content to PowerSchool so you can follow your child’s progress throughout the year. You may notice that not every assignment will receive detailed comments, and updates may vary depending on the type of task. However, teachers will ensure that the information shared gives you a clear picture of your child’s progress over time.
As this is a new process for Grades 1–5, teachers will continue building their familiarity with the platform throughout the year. Families with children in middle or high school may already have some experience using PowerSchool in this way. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition together.
As a parent, you can use the PowerSchool Parent Portal through a web browser, or you can download the mobile app for Apple and Android devices. Be sure to check out the attached parent guide for assistance.
PowerSchool is one important part of our communication with families. If you have questions or would like to discuss your child’s learning in greater detail, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
Thank you for your continued support.

We would love to recognize and celebrate their involvement and commitment to service in our community. Please let your child's teacher know if your child plans to wear their uniform.
Other students are encouraged to wear, black, white or red.
Donations: If you would like to send a loonie or toonie as a donation to the Legion’s Poppy Fund students will recieve a poppy on Thursday before the ceremony.
Ceremony Etiquette: Things to Know
No Applause: There is to be absolutely no applause for singers or speakers during this ceremony.
Minute of Silence: All audience members and students should bow their heads, stand quietly, and reflect.
Verbal Response: After the Commitment to Remember (read by a Grade 5 student), ALL audience members must repeat together: "We will remember them."
Dismissal Order: After the final song, the bagpiper will lead the guests, speakers, and singers out of the gym first. Once they have exited, students may leave. Dismissal will begin with Kindergarten and file out row by row.
