Week 32

Spring is Here!
Can you feel it? Spring is officially here, and the energy is electric! While we are soaking up the sunshine, it’s a whirlwind of a season, the end of the school year will be here before we know it, so let’s make every moment count.
Also, please stay tuned for our Staff Appreciation week Sign Ups coming out later this week! We are hoping families will be able to help with a staff potluck and a few other surprises for our staff!
Some Important Shout-Outs
We have so much to celebrate this week! Please join us in a huge round of applause for:
Our MV-AP, Mr. Alvarez: We had a blast celebrating him during Assistant Principal Appreciation Week. Thank you, Mr. Alvarez, for everything you do to keep our school running smoothly!
The TEAM: A massive thank you for your incredibly generous donation! Because of your support, we’ve been able to purchase 31 brand-new Chromebooks for our students.
Science Olympiad: Our brilliant scientists are heading to State on April 17th! We are so proud of your hard work and can’t wait to see you compete.
This April, we are proud to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month. We are moving beyond "Awareness" toward true Acceptance, which means intentionally including, valuing, and supporting our neurodivergent friends and neighbors. At Jungman, we believe that "different" is not "less," and we strive to be a place where every student is celebrated for their unique strengths.
🥪 The Re-Launch of PB@J!
In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, we are officially re-launching Peer Buddies @ Jungman (PB@J)!
This program is at the heart of our mission to ensure all students are engaging with one another in authentic, meaningful ways. PB@J pairs students of all abilities to build real friendships and break down social barriers. Like peanut butter and jelly, we know our students are simply better when they stick together!
🚀 Science Olympiad: Heading to State!
We are incredibly proud to celebrate our middle school Science Olympiad team! Our 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students have been working tirelessly all year, and their dedication has paid off—in their very first year as a program, they have qualified for the State Competition!
This upcoming weekend, our young scientists will be traveling to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to compete against the best teams in Illinois.
🔬 What it Takes to Compete
Science Olympiad is often described as a "track meet for the mind." It isn't just a club; it’s a commitment to academic excellence. Our students have been:
Digging Deep: Mastering complex topics across life science, physics, chemistry, and engineering.
Going Above and Beyond: Voluntarily staying after school for hours every week to build devices and study.
Proving Their Knowledge: Taking rigorous assessments both on and off-site throughout the season.
To our competitors: your grit, curiosity, and teamwork have brought you this far. We are so proud of what you've achieved already, and we can’t wait to cheer you on at State! Go Jungman!
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and we want to honor the incredible women who make our community so special! From our amazing moms and grandmothers to the aunts and mentors who provide so much love and support, we invite you to join us for a special celebration.
🥐 Breakfast with the Best!
We are hosting a Light Mother’s Day Breakfast for all our families, with every classroom from Grades K–8 participating.
We are so grateful to our generous friends at Pochos Chicago for donating the delicious breakfast! If you haven't visited them yet, they are local favorites located at 1727 W 18th St. You can check out their amazing menu at pochoschicago.com.
📸 Join the Celebration
To help us make this morning perfect, please take a moment to do the following:
RSVP: Please fill out our Google Form so we have an accurate headcount for breakfast.
Share a Photo: We want to celebrate all the important women in our students' lives! In the RSVP form, you’ll find an option to upload a photo of your child with their mom, grandmother, auntie, or any special mother figure. We would love to feature these in our celebration!
We can’t wait to see all those smiling faces and celebrate the women who do it all!

Good luck to our Track and Field Team who are already earning medals in their events!
Volunteer Process
To volunteer at Jungman, you need clearance, EVERY SCHOOL YEAR, from Chicago Public Schools! This requires a few steps!
- Login/Create an account online
- Bring your photo ID to the office or email it to Ms. Jessica at jmoreno83@cps.edu
- WATCH for an email from CPS that has a video you need to watch. When you complete the video, you download and send a copy of the certificate to volunteer@cps.edu
If you don't follow these steps, you will not be approved! This is not a Jungman policy, this is a District Policy!
