Warhawk Culture - Arts Alive!

It is officially time for one of our favorite traditions at WCHS! Arts Alive 2026 is arriving this Friday, April 24th, and we couldn’t be more excited to see our campus transformed by the incredible talent of our students.

This event is a true reflection of our Warhawk Blueprint. When our students showcase their creativity, they show us all what it means to Pursue Excellence. It is a day where we truly see how we are Better Together.

(In the event of inclement weather, our rain date is set for May 1st.)

Throughout the school day, our students will be hard at work:

  • Chalk Walk Live Murals: Watch as students Own It while creating large-scale murals on the pavement (Periods 3-9).

  • Art Gallery: A curated indoor gallery featuring diverse student masterpieces (student viewing only).

  • Live Music & Activities: Student performances and a visit from professional guest artist Lance Johnson.

We want to send a huge congratulations to our seniors for pursuing excellence in their craft and creating this year’s event gear:

  • Hibaq Hassan (T-shirt design)

  • Griffin Dunmoyer and Liv Ullman (Sticker designs)

We would love for our WCHS families and neighbors to join in the celebration! Our campus will be open to the community to view the incredible Chalk Walk murals starting at 2:15 PM. Please note that while the indoor gallery is reserved for students during school hours, the outdoor mural walk is the perfect way to see our artists' hard work firsthand.

A huge shout-out to Mrs.Kiko, Mr. Ehlen, and Mrs. Deck for their leadership and dedication in making this event a reality for our school community. A big thank you to the Westerville Education Foundation, our Warhawk Academic Boosters and our Warhawk Music Boosters for their generous monetary support to allow us to keep Arts Alive - ALIVE!

We look forward to seeing our Warhawk family come together to support the arts!

Wings Up,

Dawn Sayre

Principal

Westerville Central High School

Our Warhawk Blueprint outlines what we believe, how we behave and outcomes we hope to achieve together at WCHS. These beliefs are our guidepost that provide alignment in all we do.

OST Testing Student Information

We will be taking our Ohio State Tests this week on April 20 and 21. During the testing days our building schedule will be changed due to a late start. Each testing day we will be on a 3 hour delay bus schedule. You only need to be at school at 7:25 if you are testing. If you are not testing, you will come to school at 10:25 each day. I have posted our daily schedule below so you will know what each testing day looks like. Pay close attention to the periods offered because they are not in order each day. We do this so you can still see most of your classes during these testing days. If you are currently taking any of these classes, you will be testing. You will also get an email from Mr. Nickel with your room assignments. I have also posted your room assignments below by each test. The Math and History tests have both Algebra 1/Geometry and Am. History/Government on them. Each roster is listed in numerical order with your ID#. If you have any questions about testing, see your school counselor or Mr. Nickel.

Testing Room Assignments:

ELA 2 Room Assignments Algebra 1/Geometry Room Assignments

Biology Room Assignments Am. Hist/Government Room Assignments

Helpful Information:

  1. Eat a good breakfast and get enough sleep the night before exams.

  2. All phones and smart devices (including smart watches) will be turned off and in your bookbags before testing and all bookbags will be kept in the front of the testing room.

  3. You will be taking two parts of each exam on the testing days.

  4. All accommodations have been accounted for, if you want to verify these with Mr. Nickel, see him during your lunch this week before Friday.

  5. You can use your calculator on the Math exams, they will be cleared of memory though before the exam. There is a built in calculator on the exam if you do not have one. (phones will not be allowed for use as a calculator)

  6. No outside drinks other than water will be allowed in the testing rooms.

Battle of the Books Team

Congratulations to our school's Battle of the Books team, who beat 13 teams in the Central Ohio Competition on April 16 to take home the first-place trophy! Teams read the same 28 books and answered trivia questions about them in both alternating and lightning rounds, and members have been preparing for the competition since early August. Shout out to team captains Lyla Bjerke and Bailey Walston and team members Persia Berko, Quinn Hamilton, Madeline Hamrick, Christable Osafo Agyei (Ah-GEE-eh), Aaron Riggleman, and Aria (ARRR-ee-uh) Walston. There is room on the team next year for new members, due to graduation, so see Ms. Farris if you might be interested!
