Issue #29
Dear Golden Bear Families,
Welcome to March! I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weekend weather and had a chance to recharge. As we move through this busy time of the semester, it’s important for all students to stay engaged with their learning and reach out to teachers if extra support is needed. With progress reports approaching, Saturday School is a great opportunity to catch up, get help, and stay on track.
This week, we’re excited for three evenings of Dance Evolution in the Golden Bear Theatre, where our talented dance teams will showcase their creativity and hard work alongside middle school teams, TVHS clubs, and VAPA programs. It’s a wonderful celebration of student artistry, and we hope you’ll join us in supporting these performers!
While it’s always exciting to celebrate the many achievements and events happening on our campus, it’s also important to address challenges that can impact learning and the overall school environment. Sharing these concerns helps us work together to ensure our campus remains a safe, respectful, and productive place for all students.
We want to remind our student body of a few important expectations. Some seniors participated in another unauthorized “Senior Ditch Day.” These absences cannot be excused, and students remain responsible for all missed assignments and instructional time. Seniors have a special opportunity to lead by example, demonstrating responsibility, respect, and engagement helps build a school culture we can all be proud of. With several senior celebratory events coming later in the year, it is essential for seniors to maintain eligibility and remain on track to participate in these memorable activities.
Additionally, social media posts encouraging disruptive behavior, including the possibility of another food fight, have been shared. Any actions that disrupt learning will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary consequences under Education Code and school policies. Reinforcing positive choices and our B.E.A.R.S. values keeps our campus safe, respectful, and supportive for everyone.
Thank you for supporting our students as they grow academically, socially, and creatively. We look forward to celebrating their achievements this week!
Have a wonderful week, and as always, Go Bears!
Mrs. Lione

Spring to School: Don’t Miss a Day, Earn Your Way!
Beating the March Slump & Looking Ahead to CAASPP
We’ve officially hit that point in the year where the "March Slump" tries to settle in. The days are getting longer, the weather is teasing us with spring, and the academic workload is peaking. It’s completely normal to feel a bit of fatigue right now—but this is exactly when champions are made.
Our focus this month is: "Avoid the Slump: Your Best Effort Today Protects Your Future Tomorrow."
The CAASPP window is later this month: Our juniors will be participating in the CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress). While we know standardized testing isn't everyone's favorite way to spend a morning, these assessments are incredibly important for several reasons:
Reflecting Your Growth: It’s a chance to show the state, and yourself, how much you’ve learned and grown.
College Readiness: Many colleges use these scores to help determine placement in entry-level courses.
School Pride: High participation and strong scores help maintain our reputation, which adds value to your diploma.
How to Beat the Slump:
Prioritize Sleep: As the sun stays out later, it’s easy to push back bedtimes. Consistent rest is the #1 tool against the mid-year fog.
Attendance is Strategy: Missing just one or two days a month can make catching up feel impossible. Being in class for the review sessions is the most efficient way to prep for CAASPP and final projects.
Self-Advocate: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t wait until you’re "underwater." Reach out to your teachers or counselors now. We are here to help you navigate the pressure.
We are entering the home stretch. Let’s stay focused, stay present, and show the state what our students are capable of!
Safety Drill Reminder
Fire Drill - March 6, 2026
Save the date! On Friday, March 6, 2026, TVHS will be conducting our second and final fire drill. All staff are required to participate in the drill. There will be no dismissals or entry to the school during the drill so please plan accordingly. The drill will occur during Advisement.
TVHS AFJROTC proudly held its annual Dining Out this past Saturday evening at Pechanga, joining our counterparts from the NJROTC units at Murrieta Mesa High School and Chaparral High School. The event was a wonderful celebration filled with tradition, pageantry, and patriotism, highlighting the dedication and excellence of our cadets. The evening showcased the professionalism, leadership, and esprit de corps that define our program. We are incredibly proud of the way our cadets represented our school and community.
A highlight of the evening was the special recognition of two outstanding members of our TVHS family. Congratulations to Mr. Hamill, who was enthusiastically selected by the cadets as their Favorite Teacher, and to Mrs. Liebowitz, who was honored as their Favorite Counselor! Their unwavering support, encouragement, and dedication make a lasting difference in the lives of our students, and this recognition speaks volumes about the positive impact they have each and every day.
A special thank you to LtCol Adame and MSgt Knight for their continued leadership and commitment, as well as to all of our cadets for their hard work and meaningful contributions to TVHS and the broader community.
Voices Off Day!
The annual Voices Off Day was a tremendous success! Our ASL students took part in this meaningful learning experience with the goal of gaining a deeper understanding of the everyday struggles, obstacles, and frustrations faced by members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) community. Voices Off Day is not about simply using sign language, staying silent, or pretending to be Deaf, it is about building disability awareness and cultural understanding. Through this experience, students explored the concept of audism and learned how to recognize and combat it, while showing support for the DHH students and staff members on our campus.
Students truly enjoyed participating in the experience and practicing their ASL skills in real-world interactions throughout the day, making the learning both impactful and memorable. A huge thank you to our dedicated ASL teachers, Ms. Stevie Collins and Mrs. Adrienne White, for their hard work, passion, and continued commitment to making this important event possible.

TVUSD Principal Learning Walks Come To TVHS
Last week, District ESS Directors and Principals from our feeder middle and elementary schools visited campus to participate in learning walks through several of our 9th grade ELA and Math classrooms. These visits provided an opportunity to highlight the strong instructional practices taking place at TVHS, with a particular focus on our ECI component of Active Participation. Participants observed students actively engaged in meaningful learning, demonstrating collaboration, critical thinking, and ownership of their learning. We are grateful to our teachers who graciously opened their classrooms and showcased their ongoing commitment to high-quality instruction and creating engaging learning environments for all students.

CAASPP Testing is Coming Soon!
Dear Golden Bear Families of Students in Grade 11,
We are in our Spring semester and that means it’s time for state testing. The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) system will assess all 11th grade students in English Language Arts, Math and Science. Testing begins for our students MONDAY, March 9th.
In addition to being a measure of the performance of TVHS, the CAASPP:
Measures how well students have mastered the skills and content presented in our classrooms
Gauges students’ college and career readiness
Is an important factor affecting both entrance to universities and placement in courses
May exempt students from taking support level English or math courses at California universities through the EAP (Early Assessment Program) system
Golden Graduate Honors - students must earn scores of at least two 3s and one 4 as one of the qualifications to earn Golden Graduate Honors
This year we are setting the bar HIGH for our 11th grade Bears! Our goal is to earn Level 4 scores in ELA, Math, and CAST, and we know our students are more than capable of rising to the challenge.
The CAASPP is more than just a test. It is our school’s report card and a reflection of the outstanding instruction, hard work, and dedication happening on our campus every single day. When our students give their very best effort, it shows the strength of our entire Bear community.
Parents, please encourage your student to get plenty of rest, arrive on time, and take the test seriously. Students, believe in yourselves, stay focused, and show what you know!
Let’s RAISE THE BAR, SHOW OUR PRIDE, and BET ON OUR BEARS to SCORE ALL 4's on this year's CAASPP! 🐻✨
Testing will be broken into 3 segments:
The first segment for English Language Arts begins on Monday, March 9th and continues through Friday, March 13th for all of our 11th grade students. During this week TVHS will be on a Rolling Block schedule to allow students sufficient time to complete the assessment. The English Language Arts portion will take approximately 2.5 hours and will be administered by your student’s English teacher during their regularly scheduled English class.
The second segment for Mathematics begins on Monday, April 13th and continues through Friday, April 17th for all of our 11th grade students. TVHS will be on a Rolling Block schedule to allow students sufficient time to complete the assessment over the testing window. The Mathematics portion will take approximately 1.5 hours each and will be administered by your student’s Math teacher during their regularly scheduled Math class.
The last segment for Science begins on Wednesday, April 22nd and continues through Friday, April 24th for all of our 11th grade students. The CAST will be administered by your student’s Science teacher during their regularly scheduled Science class.
We ask that during your child’s testing window that you consider the following in helping your child to do their best on the CAASPP:
1. Bring Charged School Issued Technology to School Each student will need to bring a charged school issued chromebook to school each day for testing. They will also need to bring a charging cable as a back-up!
2. Get a good night’s sleep Most high school students need up to 10 hours of sleep each night to do their best in school. Research shows that limiting technology such as video games, movies, cell phones, and the internet for at least 30 minutes before bedtime improves the quality of sleep.
3. Eat a Good Breakfast .The more nutritiously students eat, the better they tend to do in school. Properly fueled and with stable blood sugar levels, their concentration is enhanced. Consider providing them with a healthy breakfast and cutting down on high-sugar cereals, pastries, etc. especially on a testing day.
4. Encourage your Student. Let your student know that you believe in them and that you know that when they take their time, think carefully, and check their work that they will do their best. Encourage them to show what they know.
5. Be at School and Arrive on Time. We ask that students are not pulled out of school for doctor/dentist appointments that would impact their testing time. If a student is testing, we will not interrupt the testing room to bring the student to the office. Once testing is over for the day the student would then be released for pick-up. We appreciate your support in protecting this time for all of the students.tvhs_regenerative_ag

For students absent for up to 15 student days, attendance can be made up through short-term independent study. In order to recoup this attendance, a student and their parent/guardian need to complete the attached Independent Study Agreement (Short Term Independent Study Contract). Attendance in this short-term independent study opportunity is based on work completion. As a reminder, assignments can be found in your student’s Canvas account within each individual course. Once this request is completed, you will be contacted regarding next steps.
The daily class assignments are available via Canvas, just as they are when attending school in-person. Please make sure that your student is able to access their classes in order to have the information they need to complete assignments as they come due. Completion of these assignments will count towards student participation and grades.

TVHS PTSA Volunteer Service Awards
For the past several years, the TVHS PTSA has proudly sponsored the Presidential Volunteer Service Award to recognize students who dedicate their time to serving others. Due to recent federal funding cuts, this national program is currently on pause. However, we still want to celebrate our TV Titans of Service who have gone above and beyond in completing community service hours this past year. To continue honoring your hard work, we have invited local and state officials to provide recognition certificates. We will follow the same categories and guidelines as the Presidential Volunteer Service Award to remain consistent with previous years.
Students are invited to apply for the TVHS PTSA Volunteer Service Awards. All application details are provided in the attached form. The application deadline is April 13, 2026. Completed applications should be submitted to Room 207 (the College & Career Center).

Traffic Safety Reminders & Map
Dear Golden Bear Community,
We continue to need your help! We have had one accident and a close call to start the semester! We need to be more mindful. We have asked the Deputy’s office to continue to be present when they can but they can’t be here all the time so we need everyone to do their part. As a reminder- To support staff safety and reduce liability, TVHS will no longer be directing traffic at the A Lot exit/entrance during pick-up and drop-off. We will, however, continue to staff the crosswalk.
We kindly ask for your cooperation to help keep the process smooth and safe for everyone. When entering/exiting the A Lot in the morning, please keep the following in mind:
No left turns are allowed when exiting the A Lot. Several accidents in past years led to this decision.
Drivers can never take a right hand turn from the left lane into the A Lot- that is a ticketable offense if seen by law enforcement
Be patient, kind, and respectful. Your support helps us get students to and from school safely.
Stay off your phone during pick-up and drop-off.
Take advantage of off-peak times. Students may arrive as early as 7:45 a.m. and be picked up until 4:00 p.m., when traffic is very light.
With nearly 2,700 students and staff arriving and leaving campus each day, safety is a shared responsibility. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe and considerate.
Go Bears!

To help you stay informed, we encourage you to click on the TVHS Policies & Procedures button below . It contains important information on school procedures, expectations, and all things TVHS.
🚫 Drop-Offs Reminder:
Please note that there are no student drop-offs of food or materials allowed during the school day. This rule is strictly enforced to:
✅ Minimize disruptions to classroom instruction
✅ Ensure student safety
✅ Help our Golden Bears develop responsibility and independence. By arriving on their own and managing their time between home and school, students learn essential skills such as accountability, time management, and self-advocacy—skills that will benefit them not just in high school, but throughout their lives.
Thank you for partnering with us to support a safe and focused learning environment for all students. Your awareness and adherence to school policies make a big difference in your student’s success! 🐻💛
Safe Riders - Bikes, E-Bikes & E-Scooters
If your child rides a bike, ebike, or escooter to school, please be sure your child has completed the online SafeRiders Course and picked up their registration sticker from the Bookkeeper. The registrations must be adhered to the bike. Safe Riders Course
Beginning next week, campus security will begin inspecting bikes to ensure that they have been registered. Students bringing an unregistered bike to campus will be assigned detentions where they can take the course so that they can get their bike registered.
