Spring Glen Spotlight
Highlights From the Week!
β‘Quick Highlights - Week of 9/14
Dear Spring Glen Families,
Happy Friday! We are really off and running now. There was so much evidence of learning in action as I walked around the building this week. I am excited to continue learning more about our math and literacy curriculums alongside our staff, as Wit & Wisdom and Illustrative Math are relatively new to me as well. Here are some highlights from the week:
- Safety Week: This week, students and staff participated in a variety of safety drills. These incluided an evacuation (fire drill), lockdown, hold (where all hallways are cleared and we remain in classrooms), and shelter (where classrooms are cleared and students sit in the hallways - solely used for dangerous weather purposes). These drills went off without a hitch. Students did a fantastic job following their teacher's instructions and, hopefully, they learned the purpose and importance of practicing. As a reminder, students riding the bus on the morning of Friday, September 25th will participate in a bus evacuation drill upon arrival at school, under the direction of their First Student driver. SPG staff will be available to support this process.
- Open House is scheduled for next Wednesday, September 23rd from 5:30-7:00. The structure is a bit different this year. Doors will open at 5:25. Session 1 will be held from 5:30-6:00; all staff and families will come to the gym for a brief principal's welcome from 6:05-6:20; and Session 2 will be held from 6:30-7:00. Doors will close at 7:05. This allows parents/guardians with children in multiple grades to attend presentations with two different teachers. Please note: there is no childcare provided. We look forward to seeing you all on Open House Night!
Enjoy the weekend.
