July Update
The New School Year Is Fast Approaching!
Summer Update
Dear Leighton Elementary Families,
It is with an incredible amount of excitement that I introduce myself as your new principal. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to serve Leighton Elementary School and to partner with you in fostering the growth and success of each and every one of your children.
My career in education began in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA and Social Studies classrooms. Those foundational years ignited my passion for guiding young minds and the teaching profession as a whole. Additionally, during my education career, I also coached football and wrestling in different capacities and coaching/athletics has always been a love of mine.
For the past ten years, I've had the privilege of serving as a building administrator; most recently as the Assistant Principal at Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School for eight wonderful years. I cherished my time there, and it was a truly rewarding experience.
However, as much as I enjoyed my time at BBHMS, I could not pass up the opportunity to serve the community I've called home for the past 12 years. I am humbled to be given the chance to work within a school system I hold in the highest regard. Being a partner in educating our community's youth is something I am fiercely passionate about and place a high priority on. I am eager to build strong relationships with all of you, and look forward to the incredible journey ahead at Leighton Elementary School.
A little personal background on myself, my wife Erica and I have two young children, both in Aurora Schools. My son Thomas will be a second grader at Craddock this year and my daughter Evelyn will be in PreK at Miller. We have been enjoying the long, fun-filled days of summer, as I am sure you all have! I have shared below a few pictures of the summer with my family and our adventures. We absolutely love raising our family in Aurora! Full disclosure, I am a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan, but this should not hinder our positive school-family relationship! 😄
As the first day of school approaches, you can expect more communication about the 2025-2026 school year. One of the specific communications will be the teacher placements for the coming school year which you can expect to receive around July 31st. This will be sent as a Final Forms message.
If you do not receive the teacher placement communication by August 1st, please contact the Leighton Elementary Office. Additionally, be sure to log into Final Forms and confirm your contact information is up to date, especially your email address. A link to Final Forms is included below for your convenience.
Sincerely,

School Supply Lists and Ohio Sales Tax Holiday
To help with your back-to-school preparations, we have provided the school supply lists for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades below. Please take a moment to review the list for your child's upcoming grade. For those ordering supplies through the PTO, they will be mailed to your home.
We also want to remind all our Leighton families to take full advantage of Ohio's expanded Sales Tax Holiday. This year, the event runs from August 1st through August 14th. This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase school supplies, clothing, and many other eligible items (up to $500 per item) without paying state sales tax. It's a great way to save a little extra as you get ready for the 2025-2026 school year! Details provided in the following link

Final Forms Reminder
The Aurora City Schools use Final Forms to complete necessary back-to-school paperwork and to send out important communication. Final Forms saves data from yes-to-year so that you will never need to enter the same information twice. If at any time a phone number, email or other contact information changes we will get a notification that a change has been made, so please make updates when needed. Also, if you see a field in red, you will need to make these updates in the system. You will need to see all "green fields" to show that your Final Forms are up to date for the 25-26 school year. Please click the Final Forms image to take you to the login screen.
