Activities Recap

Volleyball

7th grade girls volleyball rolled to 8-0 in both A and B games by defeating the Oregon Trail Tigers on Monday. A team won 25-11 and 25-12. In the A game, Lucy Boothe had a team high 4 kills, while Ivory Forsythe had 3 kills and 21 assists. Penelope Walker handed out 14 assists, 1 ace and 3 perfect passes. Madison Randall had a team-high 5 aces. The B team won 25-9 and 25-10. Lila Cook had 20 assists and 4 aces. Hadlee Davis, Evie Wardle and Ava Scribner each had 3 aces. Emma Hedenskog chipped in 2 aces and Zoey Richey had one ace.

Both A and B teams for 8th grade were incredibly successful as well. In the A game, Annabelle Miller dished up 4 kills with 2 blocks. Andie Striegel was helpful in the front and back rows, with 7 digs and 6 kills. Brook Strack was a solid passer with 4 serve receive passes and 3 digs. The A team won 25-13 and 25-20. Our B team mixed up their line-up a bit but weren't even phased by the change. They were successful in both games, winning 25-12 and 25-14. Breylynn Morgan and Eloise Hirstien set a combined 25 assists, while Kellan Wetzel had a couple kills and one block. Kendall Schurz had the opportunity to play front row and flourished, with 3 kills.

A job well done to both grade levels. Out last regular season game is tomorrow at California Trail. Stay tuned for City Tournament information!

7th grade girls volleyball finished their regular season Wednesday by defeating the California Trail Bulldogs. 7th grade finished the regular season undefeated both in A and B games, not dropping a single set at all. In the A game, Lucy Boothe controlled the back row as libero by recording 12 perfect passes. Ella Potter and Madison Randall served 3 aces and 4 kills. Payton Macrorie, Penelope Walker and Ivory Forsythe all took turns setting and each dished out over 7 assists a piece. In the B game, Sofia Lehman had 18 assists and one kill. Ava Scribner had 3 kills. Emrie Remus, Evie Wardle, Ramsey Coleman, and Lila Cook all had at least one kill. A big shout out to our two amazing managers, Audrey Oxenford and Gaby Dudenhoeffer for taking stats all years and helping out at practice!

The 8th grade team was also successful for both A and B teams. All players were thrown into different positions than normal, and all rose to the occasion. It was fun to see players in different positions, and we enjoyed our last game together as a strong team of 17 players and 2 helpful managers, Kinsley Rushton and Chloe Murray. The A team came out strong, with Olivia Schamberger's 1 kill and 1 ace on the match. Emory Lustig dished out 9 assists and 4 aces. The B team was just as successful, with Callie Connell serving up 3 aces and 2 kills with Brelynn Morgan adding 3 aces and 2 kills on the match. All girls gave it their all one last time and played their hearts out each day. We had a good time this season!

What an incredible year for both 7th and 8th grade players, both earning 1st place for the City Tournament. Between the 7th and 8th grade A teams, they won every single set but one the entire year. That is an amazing feat and hard to beat. Going undefeated at both grade levels is rare. We would love to have your support next Tuesday at Prairie Trail for 8th grade or Frontier Trail for 7th grade!

Great job to the cross country runners and congratulations on an awesome season!

Football

PRT Football brought home two more wins Thursday!

8th grade battled through the rain for a 6–0 shutout over Indian Trail! Are they the best defense Olathe has seen since the 2001 Olathe North Eagles? Maybe. 👀

The highlight of the day came in the 8th grade Gold vs. Blue game, when Jayden snagged a ONE-HANDED interception and rumbled down the sideline to seal the victory for Gold!

7th grade dominated 36–0, airing it out early before the rain came and taking over on the ground to finish the job!

Two wins. Two shutouts. Great day to be a Husky! 🐺🏈

PRT Night Game Wednesday, 10/7

Our 8th grade football team plays Oregon Trail Wednesday, October 7th at 6pm at CBAC football stadium. The theme is Pink Out! The game will benefit Alison's Allies, an organization that supports breast cancer research. The PRT Choir, Band, Cheer, and Dance teams will all be performing.

Any and all PRT students are welcome to join the Howlin’ Huskies Pep Club. Students attending the pep club are required to be with the Howlin’ Huskies sponsors from 3:25pm until the end of the game.

Students involved in school activities such as 7th grade football practice may join the Huskies at the conclusion of their obligation. The hot dog dinner will still be provided for 7th grade football, so the $5 is required.

Students who attend pep club for its entirety or at the conclusion of after school activities will need to pay $5 at https://ks-olathe.intouchreceipting.com/. The payment is the sign up for the event.

The $5 will include 2 hot dogs, bag of chips, a bottle of water, supplies for making signs and necklace beads. The sign-up link will be open through 2 pm on Tuesday, October 6th. Signing up and paying the $5 is the only way we will know how many hotdogs to grill. There will be no late sign ups.
• Log-in to Touchbase - https://ks-olathe.intouchreceipting.com/
• Items at Students School
• Pep Club
• Night Game & Hot dogs
• Buy

After school, all students staying for pep club will report to the auditorium. Students will have a little down time to watch a movie before all the fun starts. Students will then make spirit signs, eat hot dogs, and review expectations. About 5:10 pm we will walk, with our backpacks to the CBAC stadium. The Howlin' Huskies will all sit together in the student section.

Students may bring a small amount of cash to the football game for concessions. Each grade level will be allowed to visit the concession stand one time during the game.

Students who are not involved in after school activities and do not attend pep club may still attend the football game with a parent/guardian and sit with the parent/guardian during the game.

All students must have a ride available promptly at 7:30 pm on the west side of CBAC. Students will exit the stadium on the west side of the stadium. This is a long day for all staff supervisors, so all rides home must be on time.

We are excited for this fun evening and always have a great turnout!

No School - Friday

There is no school on Friday, October 9. It is a professional learning day for our staff.

Middle School Semester Grades

Olathe Public Schools made districtwide gradebook updates for middle schools over the summer to better align grading throughout each semester. Student grades will no longer reset at the end of the first and third quarters.

Instead, Quarter 1 grades will roll forward into Quarter 2 to create the Semester 1 grade, and Quarter 3 grades will roll forward into Quarter 4 to create the Semester 2 grade. This change provides a more complete picture of student progress at the end of each semester and prepares our students for high school.

26th Annual Rev. Dr. MLK Jr. OPS Contest - Due 10/21

We are excited to share with you the theme and quote for this year's 26th Annual OPS Dr. MLK Jr. Contest. This is a collaborative contest with the Olathe Human Relations Commission, Garmin, Olathe Libraries and Olathe Public Schools.

This year's theme is Integrity & Justice. His quote, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." reminds us that integrity and justice can bring people together, heal division, and create lasting change. Even when facing hatred, he encouraged others to respond with courage and kindness.

This year’s contest invites our middle school and high school students to explore what integrity & justice means in your life and community. Students will express themselves by sharing their writing, art, or multi-media skills as they consider the theme – Integrity & Justice.

We are looking forward to receiving middle school and high school entries in visual arts, multimedia and written work from all schools. All entries are due to the PRT office on or before Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Building finalists will move on to the district competition where there are cash prizes for winners. If your student is interested in participating and needs more information, they should speak with Mr. Mellen.
