Southern Nash Middle School's Mission and Vision
Mission
Southern Nash Middle School provides inclusive learning opportunities for individual success.
Vision
Southern Nash Middle School will be an exemplary middle school by building a quality foundation through healthy relationships and open communication.
Cobra Families,
We are off to a great start to the 2026–2027 school year! Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and continued support as we settle into our routines.
A few reminders as we begin our second week:
- Morning Drop-Off: We utilize one drop-off lane. Please pull forward as far as possible in the car loop before allowing your student to exit.
- Afternoon Pick-Up: We utilize two pick-up lanes. Please use both lanes to help keep traffic flowing and reduce backups.
- Bus Transportation: Bus schedules and routes will continue to improve as we move through the first few weeks of school. If we are notified of significant route delays, we will communicate with families through Class Dojo and text message.
- Fall Sports Tryouts: Boys Soccer and Girls Tennis tryouts will begin Tuesday and continue through Thursday from 3:30–5:30 PM. Girls Tennis tryouts will take place at Southern Nash High School. Students must meet all eligibility and physical requirements to participate.
Thank you for your patience and partnership as we continue building a strong start to the year. We appreciate your support of our students and staff!
Go Cobras!
Dr. Allen M. Wilson,
Principal

Attendance Matters — Every Day Counts!
Regular attendance is essential to academic success. NCPS has updated its attendance regulations for the 2026–2027 school year. Families should make every effort to ensure students are at school, on time, and ready to learn every day. Under the updated regulation, students who are absent have five (5) school days after returning to school to complete and submit missed work. When a student must miss school, a written excuse signed by a parent or guardian must be presented to the school on the day of the student’s return.
For middle school students, attendance is also directly connected to promotion. Students in grades 6–12 must attend at least 90% of school days to be eligible for promotion. Additionally, students may not miss more than nine days in each class per semester without entering the attendance recovery/waiver process. Please communicate with the school whenever attendance challenges arise so that we can work together to support your student.
Important Safety & Arrival Updates
As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure campus, all students and visitors are required to complete EVOLV security screening when entering Southern Nash Middle School.
To help make our morning screening process as quick and efficient as possible, families are asked to remind students to remove laptops, binders, and eyeglass cases from their book bags before entering the screening area each morning.
Bus Transportation Reminders
If your child is already assigned a bus: Please arrive at the bus stop 15 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time to avoid missing the bus.
Be aware that bus numbers may have changed as routes are developed.
First weeks of school: Buses may run behind schedule. Thank you in advance for your patience and grace with our drivers as routes settle.
Need a bus? If you did not attend Open House and your child needs transportation, call the front desk for assistance in signing up. Please note—this process may take up to two weeks to begin.
Immunizations MUST be up to date by September 10th, 2026!
