Glenwood
This Week's Scouting Report
Thursday January 22, 2026
Good evening Glenwood families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Meet and Greet and PTG meeting last night. It was a pleasure meeting so many new faces, sharing the many wonderful things I’ve experienced since arriving, and beginning to build positive relationships within our school community. As I shared last evening, I have been truly impressed by the many ways our PTG supports our students and helps make their elementary school experience so memorable.
A special shout-out to our students and staff for their support of the grade-level Martin Luther King Jr. Day service projects. Giving back to others is such an important lesson, and it was inspiring to see our students so excited to provide essential items to members of our community who may need extra support.
I look forward to continuing my journey of learning the Glenwood way! Please be sure to review the information below to stay up to date on all of the exciting happenings. Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Josh Rehak, Principal

SOUPERBOWL OF CARING
Starting Monday January 26th thru Thursday February 5th:
Leading up to the Super Bowl: we will be collecting canned goods / non-perishable items to donate to the Media Food Bank
AT GLENWOOD: We will have collection boxes separated by grade level... each time your grade brings 100 cans, they will show a "TOUCHDOWN" on our scoreboard. The grade level with the most points wins!!!
DISTRICT WIDE - PENNCREST LACROSSE: All donations will be picked up Friday February 6th by Penncrest Lacrosse players. They will take all items to Penncrest and load a RTMSD school bus at 4 pm - then deliver the supplies to the food bank that afternoon. (Help them "STUFF THE BUS")
2nd Grade News
Second graders have been working hard to add and subtract within 200! They learned how to solve problems using place value charts, adding liking units, using number lines, breaking apart big numbers into smaller ones, and more. Now, they are choosing the strategies that work best for them and are most efficient for each problem. Second grade mathematicians will be studying geometry next, and then returning to addition and subtraction to add and subtract even bigger numbers–numbers within 1,000!
Second graders made over 100 coloring kits for children in hospitals for the Day of Service.
Round and around they go! Second graders have been learning all about cycles in knowledge! We have explored day, night, and seasons with the cycles of the Earth. Followed the growing life cycles of trees and plants, and went through metamorphosis with frogs and tadpoles.
Writers have been writing personal narrative stories about one time in their lives. They have been using lots of descriptive details and their storytelling voices to draft their stories. They will edit and publish their writing to complete the writing process.
