BMS 8th Grade Celebrations 2023!

June 7 - June 14

BMS 8th GradeCelebrations 2023!June 7 - June 14
Dear Grade 8 Students & Families,

We're happy to announce the end of year events at BMS for our Grade 8 students. Below, we've outlined the activities that will take place on the days between June 7 and June 14.

The cost for all of the week's events is $80 and a check or money order made payable to "Town of Walpole" can be turned in with the permission slips (at the bottom of this newsletter). The price covers the cost for all of the Grade 8 end of year events. This includes, but is not limited to, bus, park entry fee, Dinner/Dance, Nurse, DJ, photo booth, etc. If you are interested in making a donation for scholarship purposes, then you can add it to the total. If any family would like to discuss financial assistance for the events, please contact me directly at econnor@walpole.k12.ma.us. We don't want financial need to be a barrier for student attendance and enjoyment at these activities. In the event that your child needs to cancel or cannot attend one of the events, there will be a non-refundable fee of $25.

Finally, because these are school functions, all school rules and behavioral expectations apply. Therefore, student possession and/or use of cell phones will not be allowed at the Dinner-Dance, on the buses, or at Canobie Lake Park. Students should leave them at home during these events as well. If they bring their phone to school on the Canobie Lake day, then they are to be turned off and put inside their lockers at school until our return from the park.

Payment & permission slips will be due by Friday, June 2nd to homeroom teachers.

We're looking forward to celebrating with the 8th graders and with you at the Promotion Ceremony. Please contact us with any questions.

Dinner - Dance Tuesday, June 13th 6:30 - 9:30 pm

We are also having a Dinner - Dance for the 8th graders on the evening of June 13 from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. The BMS Parent Advisory Council have been instrumental in the planning and implementation of this event. They would like you to know that they are looking for volunteers who can come and help set up, serve, and clean up the dinner portion of the evening. We're asking for volunteers to provide desserts and water for the students for that night as well. They are also soliciting parent chaperones for the Dance. There will be teacher chaperones as well.

There is PAC information below where you can offer how you'd like to help.

Student Dismissals after Promotion Ceremony

We understand that many families choose to dismiss their children directly after the Promotion Ceremony. If this is something that you plan to do, we ask that you send in your dismissal notes now. We will compile a list of students being dismissed on that day and give it to the Homeroom teacher. Parents will then need to go up to their child's homeroom, present identification, and their name will be checked off of the list.

Doing dismissals this way on June 13th will streamline the process and eliminate the need for parents to enter the Main Office to retrieve their child. Please contact us if you have any questions.
