Rose Tree Elementary Weekly Update
September 4, 2026
Welcome Back!
Dear Rose Tree Families,
What a wonderful start to the 2026 2027 school year! It has been great welcoming our Huskies back and seeing our classrooms and hallways filled with smiles, excitement, and lots of positive energy.
The first few days of school are an important time for building relationships, establishing routines, and creating a strong sense of community. Our teachers and staff have done an outstanding job helping students settle into their classrooms, learn expectations, and feel welcomed and supported. It has been wonderful to see our theme, Rose Tree ROCKS!, already coming to life through kindness, learning, teamwork, and leadership. As we remind our students and one another throughout the year, “Every Interaction Matters.”
We also successfully completed our first evacuation drill of the year. I was very proud of how calmly and responsibly our students and staff responded. We will continue practicing a variety of safety procedures throughout the year so everyone knows what to do in an emergency.
Our first Rose Tree Spirit Day was another highlight! It was great seeing all of the maroon and gray throughout the building and watching our students show their Husky pride.
Students also participated in their first grade level assemblies, where we reviewed what it means to be Ready, Respectful, and Responsible at Rose Tree. Of course, we had some fun along the way with Rose Tree trivia and plenty of Husky spirit!
Please take a few minutes to review this week’s newsletter. It contains important information, upcoming dates, and reminders for the weeks ahead.
Thank you for helping us get the school year off to such a positive start. I hope everyone enjoys a relaxing Labor Day weekend and has an opportunity to spend some extra time with family and friends.
We can’t wait to see our Huskies back on Tuesday, September 8, and continue showing everyone why Rose Tree ROCKS!
Warm regards,
Eric Bucci

Parents and guardians are invited to join us for Back-to-School Night and meet their child’s teacher. Teachers will share classroom expectations, routines, and an overview of the year ahead.
We will offer two classroom presentation sessions, allowing families to choose the time that works best for them and giving those with multiple children the opportunity to visit more than one classroom.
Our specialists will also be available in the library from 6:00-7:25 p.m. We encourage you to stop by, say hello, and learn more about the programs and support available to our students.
We look forward to welcoming you to Rose Tree Elementary!

We are asking all Rose Tree Huskies to wear red, white, and blue to honor the many brave first responders and everyday people who showed great courage during a very difficult time. We will also recognize the importance of helping one another, showing kindness, and working together as a community.
The cyclists will ride by Rose Tree Elementary at approximately 10:50 a.m. as they travel through Delaware County, passing police, fire, and EMS departments before concluding at the memorials in Rose Tree Park.

Breakfast Information
We wanted to remind our families that all students in the Rose Tree Media School District have the opportunity to enjoy a free breakfast every morning!
Here’s how it works:
Students will order their breakfast in their homerooms the day before. When they arrive at school the next morning, they will head to the cafeteria to eat. After breakfast, they will return to their classrooms in time for the start of the academic day.
Kindergarten students will have their breakfast in their classrooms.
This is a great way for students to start the day fueled and ready to learn.
New Cafeteria Serving Line
Rose Tree Elementary recently had a brand-new serving line installed. We went from one serving line to two, which will help improve efficiency during lunch service and give students more time to enjoy their meals and socialize with their classmates.
BEGINING OF THE YEAR GROWTH ASSESSMENTS
September, 2026
Dear Families,
Rose Tree Media students in grades Kindergarten through fifth will once again participate in beginning of year growth assessments. These tests help to determine a child’s instructional level and measure academic growth throughout the school year. They provide teachers with additional information on student progress toward proficiency and mastery of academic skills. The test scores let teachers know where a student’s strengths are and if support might be needed in any specific area. Teachers use this information to help guide individual and group instruction in the classroom. As well, to promote student achievement in all our schools, the district uses these results to continue to improve teaching and learning. These assessments will be administered by members of the MTSS team in each elementary school as part of the regularly scheduled instructional day.
The following tests will be given September 8 - October 2, 2026
In grades kindergarten through 5th, DIBELS 8 (Dynamic Indicator of Basic Early Literacy Skills), a series of short measures for assessing the acquisition and growth of literacy skills.
In grades Kindergarten through first, Acadience Math will be administered which is an assessment used to measure the development of early numeracy skills.
In grades 2nd through 5th, the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is used. MAP is an adaptive computerized test administered to assess growth in the areas of reading and math.
If you have any questions prior to testing, please reach out to your building’s MTSS teacher for support.
Sincerely,
Christa A. Consadene

A few reminders from Mrs. Hefferan, the school nurse:
Welcome back! It’s been wonderful seeing all your children this week!
Parents and caregivers are reminded to check their children for ticks if they have been playing outside. The American Academy of Pediatrics has advice on how to prevent and remove ticks, as well as symptoms to watch out for following a tick bite. Ticks found on students during the school day will be sent home with an information sheet. Feel free to call the nurse's office with any questions.
Is anyone in your home scratching their head? Here's a quick reminder about the district's Lice Management Plan. Classrooms are not screened for lice. You can contact the school nurse at 610-627-7228 for guidance if you are uncertain or if you discover lice/nits.
Updated guidance for parents about head lice was recently published by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Click the link for everything you need to know about finding them and treating them. Get in the habit of checking your children’s heads periodically for lice and if you notice itching. Please remind your children not to share hats, brushes, hoodies or headbands / hair ties with their friends.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy!
Contact Mrs. Hefferan (610)627-7228 with any questions.
Sincerely,
Bridget Hefferan

Rose Tree Elementary School Picture Day
Thursday, September 24, 2026
Dear Rose Tree Families,
Picture Day at Rose Tree Elementary School will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026. Please review the information below carefully to ensure your child’s picture order is processed correctly.
Before Picture Day: Pre-Ordering
Shortly before Picture Day, you will receive an email from Active Image Media containing a personalized ordering link for your child.
Each student will receive their own unique link.
Please use each child’s individual link when ordering.
Do not share links between siblings or other family members.
If you have multiple children at Rose Tree, you must place a separate order using each child’s individual link.
Pre-ordering provides the best value. Pre-orders will be delivered to the school and distributed to students.
You do not need to print your receipt or send it to school. All orders are automatically submitted to Active Image Media.
Didn't Receive Your Link?
Please check your junk or spam folder first.
If you still cannot locate your child’s link, email support@activeimagemedia.com and include:
Rose Tree Elementary School
Your child’s name
Active Image Media will respond with your child’s assigned link.
Ordering After Picture Day
If you do not pre-order, you will receive another email approximately one week after Picture Day. You can use the same personalized link to view your child’s photo and place an order.
Please note: Orders placed after Picture Day will include a $9.95 shipping fee because they will be mailed directly to your home rather than delivered to school.
Family Special
Families with more than two children attending Rose Tree Elementary may receive a free package for their third child.
The free package must be the same package ordered for the siblings.
A la carte items are not included.
To receive the special, send a note with your third child on Picture Day.
Please include the siblings’ names, the package ordered, and the desired background.
Make-Up and Retake Day
The school will notify families when the Make-Up Picture Day is scheduled.
If you pre-ordered and are not satisfied with your child’s photo, your child is eligible for a retake. The original photo package must be returned on Make-Up Day to receive a replacement package.
If you did not pre-order and would like a retake, a $5.00 retake fee will be required.
Thank you!

A Collaborative Effort
Welcome to the 2026-27 School Year!
Parents, teachers, students, and administrators came together to learn about and discuss the cultural holidays and events observed throughout the school year. Together, they developed the list of holidays and events our schools will recognize, teach about, or celebrate. The selections featured in this newsletter reflect the voices and input of our community.
By learning about the cultures, traditions, and experiences represented in our community, we build greater understanding and acceptance of one another. This shared learning strengthens relationships and enhances each person’s sense of belonging in our schools.
Please select the “Resources” links to learn more.
Please email Ralph Harrison if you have any suggestions or ideas about our monthly events and holidays. We honor dignity by taking the time to learn about the cultures of all of our community members. The events/holidays are listed in the order they occur during the month. For more details, please click on the "Resources" links.
Support the PHS Band
The Philadelphia Phillies have invited the Penncrest Marching Band to participate in their Phillies Band Night on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 6:40 pm. This is both a fundraiser for the band and a competition to see which high school sells the most tickets.
The band will march in a parade down Citizens Bank Way and then play in a concert about an hour before the game. And if our high school sells the most tickets, our band will also get to perform on the field before the game! We have won this competition for the last decade and would like to continue the winning streak.
Tickets are $45 each. Tickets are on sale until Wednesday, September 9th. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the Penncrest Band
You do not need to have a PayPal account to make a donation. You can check out as guest and make your payment safely with a credit card.
Ticket pick up will be at Penncrest HS Parking lot (outside of the band room - near the lion statue):
Tuesday, September 15: 6 - 8 PM
Wednesday, September 16: 6 - 8 PM
This is a great opportunity for the kids to perform and help raise money for the band. As an added bonus, the Phillies are on a hot streak so it should be a great game to watch!!
