Cougar News - Week of 4/22/24
Letter from Ms. Bedford
Hello Smallville,
This month is flying by and before we know it we will be looking at the last few weeks of school! Some fun events are on the horizon, but first I have to talk about one of our own Cougars having the opportunity of a lifetime. 7th grader, Ruby Plachta, and her mom were able to join Kelly Clarkson on her show to highlight their non profit Ruby’s Rainbow. Their non-profit helps the Down Syndrome community achieve their dreams of higher education by providing college scholarships. Check out Ruby’s segment on The Kelly Clarkson’s Show click the picture below!
SplashFest is on the horizon! I’m so ready to break out the water balloons and inflatables. This event is our main campus fundraiser of the year. All proceeds will directly benefit our students, programs, and staff. Through this fundraiser, we have been able to buy instructional resources, student and staff incentives, Green Tech materials, and much more! Online ticket sales begin today!
Have an amazing weekend!

Attention Current 6th Grade Families
This is a friendly reminder to Parents/Guardians of upcoming seventh grade students to turn in proof of the following vaccinations before the beginning of the 24/25 school year. State law requires one dose of the meningococcal conjugate (MCV4) vaccine and one dose (booster) of the tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine for all students. More information can be found at School and Childcare | Texas DSHS. Please reach out to the school nurse at erin.clifford@austinisd.org, if you have specific questions regarding your child's immunization records.
