WMS Friday Forecast
August 22, 2025
Note From Principal Favero
Dear RedHawk Families,
As we finish off our 1st FULL week of school I wanted to highlight a new Behavior Matrix we are using to communicate clearly with our students, faculty and community about our expectations. With our new guidelines we want to increase clarity and predictability with all stakeholders. For the first 10 days of school, students are participating in focused lessons around these expectations and why they are important to being a RedHawk. I would encourage you to ask your student about them at home this weekend.
Be sure to save the date for WMS Back to School Night!! Here is what you need to know:
Back to School Night is for parents and guardians, not for students
7th and 8th Grade - Back to School Night is on Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30 p.m.
6th Grade - Back to School Night is on Tuesday, August 26th at 6:30 p.m.
ALL grade students who access RISE Back to School Night is Tuesday, August 26th at 6:30 p.m.
All of the front doors will be open.
Please arrive early in order to get to your class on time! At 6:30 PM - THE PROGRAM will promptly begin with “EVENING ANNOUNCEMENTS” in first period.
Large Group Meetings: (music, PE, explore, and world language classes)
Please look on your child’s locker for the sheet that shows the location.
Parents of students in more than one performance music group, which meets during the same period, have a choice to:
If multiple parents are present, divide up, each going to one
If only one parent is present, choose 1 to attend, but stop by the other to obtain any paperwork handed out
Your child’s schedule will be on their locker so know their locker number. If you forget, we will have locker numbers posted outside the LRC and in the front lobby.
Parking will be very tight! Please do not park in the front driveway nearest the building, as it is a fire zone. You may park in the front circle away from the building, where it is not painted yellow.
Please remember that this is back to school night and parent-teacher conferences will be coming soon. Please refrain from asking about your child's progress. That is a great topic for an email or a call.
We look forward to seeing all of you!
Proud to be a RedHawk,
Francesca Favero, Principal
Upcoming Non Attendance Days for Students
Next Friday, August 29th and the following Monday, September 1st will be non attendance days for students. Friday is an Institute Day for teachers and Monday is the Labor Day Holiday. Enjoy the long holiday weekend!
Parent/Guardian Resource Form - 2025-2026
The Parent/Guardian Resource Form is now open for the 2025-26 school year. Families can complete this form to request support, such as Big Hearts of Fox Valley holiday programming or Thanksgiving meals. The form will close on September 12th.
Important Rules for Attending High School Athletic Events this Fall
High school football games are starting soon!
No backpacks, bags, or outside food or drinks are allowed. Only small bags (8x6 or smaller) will be permitted, and all bags are subject to search.
Students need to bring their student id to enter.
These games are official school events and are considered an extension of the school day, so behavior expectations still apply.
Middle school students must be with a parent or guardian at all times while inside the stadium.
There is no re-entry once someone leaves the stadium.
Not allowed: profanity, taunting (including racial or inappropriate remarks), throwing objects, or bringing anything that blocks the view of others.
If a student is asked by staff to provide their name and school, they are expected to respond honestly and respectfully. All workers—whether staff or event personnel—should be treated with respect at all times
Notes from the Office
QC label in Schoology
This year, you may notice some of your student's assignments labeled "QC" in the Schoology gradebook. The "QC" stands for "Quick Check," and is meant to be a formative assessment of your child's performance on identified standards. This means the assignment is a helpful indicator of your child's understanding of the particular standards at the time of the assignment and could have some predictive value of their performance on similar questions on the summative assessment for that unit.
New Attendance Policy 2025-2026
At Wredling, we are dedicated to supporting each student’s academic and personal growth. Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in helping students stay engaged, connected, and successful. We truly appreciate your partnership in ensuring your student is present and ready to learn each day.
There are new attendance policies and procedures for the 2025-2026 school year that can be found in your student’s handbook beginning on page 11. We have updated our infographics (see below) to reflect these changes, but we would like to direct your attention to the biggest changes:
- Defined tardies: Minutes 1–6 late will result in a tardy. An extended tardy will be applied if the student is 7 or more minutes late to school or class.
- 8 excused absences: Once a student has reached 8 excused absences, a staff member may reach out to help problem-solve and offer support.
- 10 full-day absences: Once a student has accumulated 10 full-day absences, a medical note will be required for all absences to be excused. *See handbook for specific requirements of the medical note on pg. 14.
- Problem-solving meetings: All students will be required to have a problem-solving meeting with building staff to address attendance concerns. At this time, a parent/guardian may be asked to participate in the conference.
- No more pre-arranged absences: Vacations during school days are discouraged and will be considered unexcused.
If you have specific concerns regarding your student as it relates to attendance, please reach out directly your student’s Student Support Counselor/Dean:
