LOTS OF NEW LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Class 1

Intergalactic greetings, young heroes. It’s time to rescue the planet from evil villains. Who’s your favourite superhero? Spiderman? Wonder Woman? Maybe your heroes are ordinary people who’ve achieved great things. Or is it those people who save lives in our emergency services that you admire most? Superheroes have super senses. Use yours to identify mystery items by their smell, taste, sound and touch. What do true superheroes eat to keep their senses and special powers sharp? Can we stop the dastardly plans of Professor Slime? He’s dropping his villainous instructions around town. We must stop people following them, but can we make it in time? Is that phone box free? Please excuse me – I have to save the world.

Class 2

Tiptoe through the tulips as your senses discover the blooming foliage and enchanting fragrances of flowers and herbs. Round and round the mulberry bush we go, planting bulbs and seeds, and then watch them grow beneath sunshine and showers. Explore the astounding world of the scented garden, but be careful, there are some wild and dangerous plants out there that do astonishing things. Don't touch them. Use the marvellous properties of plants, flowers and herbs to make an exceptional gift for somebody special. Everything is coming up roses. Why not grow your own?

Class 3

What sort of man would order the beheading of his wife? Was she really that bad? Travel back in time to the 1500s and meet the terrifying Tudors, a domineering dynasty that changed our history. Discover an opulent court where dancing and singing goes hand in hand with swift falls from favour, and even swifter falling of heads. Develop your painting skills in miniature, solve riddles and remember to protect your precious neck with a large white ruff, if you want to survive at Tudor court. Flex your detective muscles and become a criminal investigator. Will you find out the facts or will the evidence from the past bemuse you? How will you find the accused, innocent or guilty? It’s your turn to take part in one of the most famous trials that the world has ever known.

OUR CHRISTIAN VALUE THIS HALF TERM

WARM WEATHER AND SUN PROTECTION

We all enjoy spending lots of time outside during the school day and we are expecting some very hot weather this week.

Reminder to please send your child with a sun hat and sun cream on days which are sunny so they can take full advantage safely. Many thanks.

ATTENDANCE - GENTLE REMINDER

Taking holidays in term time will affect a child’s schooling as much as any other absence and we expect parents and carers to help us by not taking children away in school time.

There is no automatic entitlement in law to time off in school time to go on holiday.

Amendments to the 2006 regulations make clear that the Headteacher may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Many thanks for your understanding.

RESIDENTIAL

Thanks to Miss Shier and Miss Metcalfe who presented information about the upcoming residential to parents and carers at Sledmere. We were pleased with the turn out. If you were unable to make it and you have any questions please let us know and we will endeavour to answer them.

CHURCH, GOVERNORS AND COMMUNITY

Do you have any knowledge of our new topics which you would like to share with our children? If so, please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.

PLACES STILL AVAILABLE FOR SEPT

We still have places available for September. If you know of any children who would like to join our fabulous school please let speak with their families and we would be delighted to show them what makes us so special.
