A Note from Mrs. Solomon and Mrs. Salto
Another great week and Football Friday! GO BEARS! Hopefully our hometown heroes can bring home a WIN!
Another place we would love to have a win is in our arrival and dismissal procedures. Members of our community and district transportation have reached out for us to please reiterate our process, as we continue to have some unsafe situations.
If you are driving for arrival or pick-up you should be coming through the pick-up line. If you have to park, you should only be parking on the west side of Thornly (closest to the houses). It is very difficult for our buses to drive down Thornly when cars are lining both sides of the street. There is no parent parking allowed on Thornapple (west side of the school). The map sent earlier in the year is below this message for your viewing.
We would really appreciate your support in following these procedures. They really are developed and put in place for the safety of our students and drivers. Please do not be offended as we will be asking people that are not following these procedures to work with us and follow what has been put in place.
We do not have school on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
We will see everyone back on Tuesday!

New Wild Rose Logo
Logo change process:
It all started a few years ago as Mrs. Solomon spoke with different groups here at school and the district communications department. She has talked with parents and staff and students about the school logo. This year we brought in and utilized the PTO for a wider and broader perspective.
During a PTO meeting, a short presentation was given showing the old logo and explaining the concerns with clarity of color and image. The PTO brought up that it wasn’t very elementary friendly (which we had hoped would be their thinking). We then unveiled the drafted new designs.
We presented both the full body version and the head only version. PTO members had an opportunity to critique and make suggestions for improvement. All of those suggestions were incorporated into the revised design. We presented the revised images to the PTO and they voted in favor of the switch to the kinder gentler Panther.
We repeated the same process with the Wild Rose staff. We shared both designs and asked for any suggestions, changes, or alterations. There were a few suggestions that were tried, but we settled on the design approved by the PTO.
We have started using a version of the new panther informally on a t-shirt that the entire school wears on special days. There has been overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community: students, parents, and staff.
We thank everyone for the feedback and we are excited to have a fresh new look!

ATTENDANCE POLICY UPDATES
D303 Attendance Procedures Update
District 303 attendance procedures were updated and approved at the June 9, 2025, Board Meeting. All district procedures are available in the CUSD 303 Student Handbook found in the Parent/Community tab in the Information column of the districtd303.org website.
Updates to the attendance procedures were made to bring consistency across all schools within the district and to clarify student attendance expectations. One example of an update is the removal of the pre-arranged absence procedure. This aligns with the definitions of excused and unexcused absences found in Section 2.2.
NEW VACATION POLICY:
The pre-arranged absence form and procedure are no longer in use
Vacations during school days are discouraged and will be considered unexcused absences
This change aligns with our commitment to maximizing instructional time for all students
We recognize that families sometimes need flexibility for travel or special circumstances. While we strongly encourage scheduling family trips during school breaks and holidays, we understand that this isn't always possible. We ask for your partnership in minimizing absences during the school year whenever feasible.
Families are encouraged to review the CUSD 303 Student Handbook to familiarize themselves with the districtwide procedures.
