Congratulations to Senior, Nathaniel Gebeyehu, who was selected as a winner of the PGCPS Patricia L. Miller Award for Academic Writing. This prestigious accolade celebrates outstanding high school students who exhibit exceptional prowess in the art of scholarly writing. This award was presented on Thursday, April 24, 2025 on the campus of University of Maryland during the 2nd Annual PGCPS Evening of Stars: A Celebration of Literary Excellence, hosted by the High School Reading/Language Arts Department. We celebrate Nathaniel for this achievement and wish him well in his academic endeavors.

KIDWIND CLUB COMPETES at UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND

On March 29 at the University of Maryland College Park KidWind Solar Competition, our very own KidWind solar team, led by Brian Boakye, took home the championship trophy! Team members Charlotte Pullum, Ethan Willis, Meron Gebeyehu, Nelly Mosoke, and Gabrielle McCoy, created a small solar house that generated ten volts of electricity. As a result of their win, this team received an invitation to attend the International Competition.

Are you interested in wind or solar energy? Are you interested in competing against others schools in the STEM field? Gear up and start thinking about joining KidWind for SY2025-26! Find out more by visiting Mr. Roorda’s room (307) on Thursdays after school, emailing Mr. Roorda, and/or visiting the official KidWind site: https://kidwind.org/.
