Dear MCI Families -
On Sunday, February 2, we sent an Ntouch message informing the community of the loss of a beloved staff member at Mill Creek Intermediate School. As we continue to navigate this difficult time, we appreciate the outpouring of support from parents, students, and the community.
This week, we have had the Berkeley County Schools Crisis Team providing support to students and staff. During this time, we have become aware that some of our students affected by this loss have been exposed to speculation of the crisis details circulating online through social media and online gaming chat groups. We ask for your help in monitoring your child’s online activity and ensuring the information they encounter is appropriate for their age and emotional well-being. If you have concerns, please reach out. We are here to support you.
Grief affects everyone differently, and it’s okay to ask for help. We encourage both students and families to seek support when needed. Navigating these situations as a parent can also be difficult, and we want you to know that you are not alone. Our Crisis Team remains available to provide guidance, a listening ear, and resources for coping. If you or your child are struggling, please don’t hesitate to talk to a trusted adult, whether it be a counselor, staff member, or family member.
Healing takes time, and no one has to navigate it alone. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can assist in any way.
