Dear Center Community,

It is hard to believe we only have 7 more wake ups before the end of the school year! Thank you to our CSPTO for providing engaging enrichment opportunities for our students right up until the last day!! We still have lots of learning and fun ahead so please read through the update carefully for important end of the year information.

Book Swap

Thanks to those who have brought in books, we need lots more to hold the book swap on field day, so please clean out those closets and bring in those gently used books that your students have "out grown." Please have your child bring in the books and place them on the counters in the lower lobby. We will need volunteers to organize the books the afternoon of June 11th and two parents to assist for each grade level during the swap. Please email Dianna at fulreaderd@chelmsford.k12.ma.us if you are interested.

If we do not have enough books to hold the swap you can take your books back or we can use them for the little lending library, give them out at summer read alouds, and/or donate them. We hope this won't be necessary.

Spirit Days

Each year, our 4th grade students vote on spirit days for the last week of school. Here they are below. Many classes in younger grades may have a different spirit day. Happy to have all the spirit at Center we can get the last few days of school. :)

Monday 6/9: sports day

Tuesday 6/10: Disney Day

Wednesday 6/11: crazy hair/hat

Thursday 6/12: field day color

Friday 6/13: Chelmsford day - 4th graders wear their t shirts

Monday 6/16: neon Day

Tuesday 6/17: Hawaiian Day

Center Chirps

  • Please be sure to check the lost and found for missing items of clothing. All remaining clothing will be donated at the end of the year.
  • Please return any borrowed books from the Center library.
  • June 17th, Tuesday, is the last day of school for all students. Students will be dismissed at 11:45.

What's ahead this week:

Field Day

We are thrilled about our upcoming field day scheduled for June 12th, with a rain date set for June 16th. A reminder that only caretakers who have signed up to volunteer are allowed to attend.

One of the center's traditions is for each grade level to wear a specific color. Please find the assigned colors below. No need to buy new clothing, just a suggestion if you have clothing of this color available.

  • Kindergarten: Orange

  • 1st Grade: Green

  • 2nd Grade: Blue

  • 3rd Grade: Red

  • 4th Grade: Tie-Dye

4th Grade Finale, Friday 13:

Friday, 4th grade caretakers are invited to the Fourth Grade Finale. It starts at 12:30 in the gym and ends around 1:00. We will be letting families in at 12:15. Students will be treated to lunch and entertainment following the ceremony. Only volunteers who signed up to assist with the activities will be allowed to stay. Due to limited capacity in the gymnasium, siblings at Center will not be allowed to attend the ceremony.

And next:

Clap Out:

We are pleased to hold our annual clap out for fourth grade students on Tuesday, June 17th. Students will parade from their classrooms down both corridors of the school while staff and students cheer them on. They will proceed outside our kindergarten wing doors, pass the front of the school and back to the kindergarten doors.

Families, you are invited to cheer them on outside of the school.

  • Please arrive no later than 11:15.

  • Please park in the upper parking lot or the town hall, if the upper parking lot is full.

  • There is a path from the town parking lot to the campus.

  • Please sign the dismissal sheets available, on the designated table to the right of the building, if you plan to take your child home following the clap out.

  • Please spread out starting from door #11 toward the front of the building to cheer on our 4th graders.

  • Please check in with your child’s teacher if you are dismissing your child immediately after the parade and leave the campus no later than 11:40 so we can prepare for dismissal of all other students.

  • We can not dismiss siblings at this time. Please follow our regular pick-up procedures. Remember to bring your golden ticket.

Move up Day for K-3:

On the last day of school, we have a "Move Up Day" where students get to meet their new teacher and classmates for the upcoming year. This day is designed to help students transition smoothly and alleviate any anxiety they may have about the next school year. Students will come home with a welcome letter from their new teacher. Please check your child's backpack for this information. Please be assured that we take a great amount of pride in making sure that placement is completed with care and the interests of each individual child in mind and took your placement feedback into account as was feasible. We ask that you assist us with reassuring your child that whoever they have for a teacher next year will be a positive experience.

We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation in this process. If you submitted a placement letter by the May 6th deadline and we were not able to accommodate your requests, you may reach out after June 30th to share your concerns. Thank you for your partnership in making this transition as smooth as possible.

Family Survey

Please complete the family survey if you haven't already done so. We have under 100 responses so far.

Fingers crossed for good weather on Thursday and Friday.

Warm Regards,

Dianna and Donna

Center School Extended Day Families

Extended Day will be closing promptly at 3:00 pm on the last day of school, Tuesday, June 17th. Please plan to pick up your child no later than this time.

Thank you for sharing your children with us this school year. It has been a wonderful year watching your children grow, make new friends and thrive at the program. We will miss our 4th grade students next year but wish them the best of luck at middle school.

Notes from the Nurse

Medication Pick-up & Planning for next year

  1. All medications must be picked up from the Nurse’s Office by the last day of school. Medication can only be returned to a responsible adult. If your student has a medication in the nurse's office, please make a plan to pick it up before June 17th. Although the last day is an early dismissal, the health office will be open for med pick-up 8am – 11:30am, then again from 12:15-3:00pm.

*Medication pick-up will not be available during dismissal. Items not picked up by 3pm on Wednesday, June 17th will be disposed of per district policy.

  2. Plan for next year! If your child has asthma, diabetes, an allergy that requires epinephrine, seizures, or another medical condition that requires special care or medication, the condition related health form must be completed EVERY YEAR and returned to the health office by the first day of school. Forms may be found on the district website: https://chelmsfordschools.org/departments/health-services/health-forms/

Health Forms - Chelmsford Public Schools

    Phone: (978) 251-5100 Fax: (978) 251-5110 230 North Road Chelmsford MA, 01824

    chelmsfordschools.org

Medication for school use must be turned into the health office by a responsible adult and may not be sent to school with a child. Please make sure all forms are completed, front and back sides. If you have any questions, please contact the nurse during school hours.

  3. Medication drop-off day for next year will be Friday, August 22, 9 am to 3 pm

Current Grade 2 Parents - 3rd Graders need Physicals!

In accordance with Massachusetts General Law (Chapter 71, section 57) and related amendments and regulations (105 CMR 200.000-200.920), Chelmsford requires all 3rd grade students to have a current physical on file in our health office. Please keep this in mind when making appointments over the summer for physicals. Incoming 3rd graders should have a physical dated January 2025 to December 2025, and a copy needs to be submitted to the health office by December 2025.

Family Survey- How are we doing?

Dear Chelmsford Families,

Our district values your feedback! We are currently surveying The Chelmsford Public Schools families in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district's effectiveness. We also want to better understand barriers to families accessing our schools and programs. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We want to know what you think.

To administer these surveys, we have partnered with Panorama Education to conduct our 2025 Family Survey as we did in 2023 and 2024 as well. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses anonymous. The survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete and will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and district as good as they can be.

You may complete the survey online between Thursday May 1st and Friday June 13th using a computer, tablet, or smartphone by visiting the website below: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/chelmsfordma/family25/surveys

If you have multiple CPS school-aged children, please feel free to fill out multiple surveys to represent each individual child’s experience. The first question on the survey will be a dropdown to select which school you are filling the survey out for.

We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact your building Principal.

Thank you in advance for your time.
