A Message from Ms. Peterson

Hello MCP3 Families,

Last week was a HUGE success as we celebrated The Week of the Young Child. We ended the week with a special Read-In on Work Together Wednesday and a Paint & Sip on Artsy Thursday! This week we are finalizing the Class of 2040 Leave Our Mark Tribute which is a dandelion mural in our main hallway across from room 123- be sure to check it out!

A special shout out to the following parents who came in to read as a guest reader for the Read-In: Ms. Johnson, Mr. Bey, Ms. Herring-Rodge, Ms. Beauchamp, Ms. Willis and Ms. Bowen! A special shout out to the following network leader guest readers who also supported MCP3 during the Read-In: Ms. Badger, Dr. Cleveland, Mr. Weber & Ms. Garlie! We enjoyed having you all here to read to our scholars!

Here are some important reminders and updates:

Upcoming Parking Lot Construction

We are excited to share that construction will begin soon (anticipated date: April 30th) in the parking lot of our MCP Lola Rowe North campus. We are participating in the Fresh Coast Green Communities program which funds design, construction, and maintenance of green stormwater infrastructure through the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. Our site will be receiving a new underground storage system that will hold almost 300,000 gallons of stormwater during every big storm. We're helping keep water out of our neighbor's basements and protect Lake Michigan. We're also updating our landscaping along the north side of the parking lot and all along Teutonia. These new plants will be tolerant to road salt and help clean the air around our campus.

During construction, the northern entrance off Teutonia will be closed. The northern portion of our parking lot will be fenced off and be inaccessible during construction. The southern entrance will remain open at all times. The southern area of the parking lot will remain accessible. There will be a few days where new pipe is being laid where some work will extend out of the fenced area. These areas will be coned off on this day and will occur over the summer outside of the school year. The project will be substantially complete by September 15 with everything wrapped up by the end of October.

Please watch for a visual aid that will be shared later this week. We appreciate your patience in the coming months as the Fresh Coast Green Communities program works to improve our sewage system.

What this means for K3 Families and Drop off and Pick up:

  • There will be one designated entrance and exit for the remainder of the school year
  • Families/daycare MUST follow the flow of traffic (cones will be set up) and park in a parking spot
  • Increased congestion in the parking lot is expected- please plan accordingly and be patient
  • K3 Scholars must still be walked into and out of the building, signed in/out of their class for arrival and dismissal

MCP3 Completion Ceremony ~Save the Date

MCP3 will celebrate our class of 2040 in a K3 completion ceremony on June 10th at 9:00am in the Lola Rowe North Campus Gym. Here are a few details regarding our completion ceremony so that it runs smoothly and everyone is safe:

  • Scholars may come dressed up
  • Scholars will NOT be wearing caps/gowns in order to limit unnecessary distractions
  • Balloons are NOT allowed in the gym
  • Scholars MUST walk back to their classrooms with their teacher after the ceremony to ensure an accurate headcount. Families may sign their child out from the classroom upon completion of the ceremony. Parents may NOT take their child from the ceremony or from the gym.
  • Parents and family members are asked to remain in the designated "guest" area to NOT interrupt the ceremony

Enrollment for MCP3

Help spread the word that MCP3 is enrolling for the 26-27 school year! We'd love for you to share your experience of MCP3 with other friends and family members that have a young child who will be turning 3 and let them know they can schedule a tour and apply for a seat now!

Sleep- It is important that your child is getting enough sleep every night so that he/she can experience success in school. Scholars that are tired and not well rested tend to be more irritable and are not able to fully engage with learning. The CDC recommends that preschoolers (ages 3-5) get 10-13 hours per 24 hours (including naps). Scholars nap at school for 1-1.5 hours. This means ALL MCP3 scholars should be getting at least 9 hours of sleep every night at home.

Change of Clothes and Donations: Please make sure your scholar has a labeled extra uniform here in their classroom in case of an accident. WE do NOT HAVE additional change of clothes at this time. We are accepting donations of pants and/or shorts to have on hand in our main office. Bring in your childโ€™s outgrown pants to support MCP3!
