A Message from Ms. ML A Message from Ms. ML

We did it! Two weeks of school and I think we are starting to know everyone’s name!!! Attending the MHS community building field trip to Camp Campbell definitely helped. It was so fun to see students connecting with each other, tie dying shirts, trying to cross the “peanut butter river” in the low ropes course, playing Gaga ball with Mr. Brown, and enjoying the beautiful pool under the redwoods. Being together as a whole school is so important to developing a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive culture. MHS is about community and Monday was a great day to start. During our 2nd Bridge to MHS Academy, Ms Carlson and I reviewed how we take care of ourselves in the midst of being a student, a friend, a sibling, child, and community member. Students were engaged in sharing what community means to them:

  • Friendship, Kindness, Welcoming, Support, Understanding,

  • Safe, Accepting, Working hard, Music, Inclusivity,

  • Laughter, Family, Respectful, Positive

The words shared by our new students gives me hope that this will become the school where they experience all of this and more. With the practice of self-advocacy, I believe we will continue to hear how they are doing, what they need and be a part of growing a community where everyone is seen.

Naviance: For the first time, we are inviting all students to take advantage of the College Rep Visits coming to campus. These are hosted in room 20. Students are required to sign up through Naviance. Here is a link to the Naviance Guide and a link to how to login. Once students have logged in, click on Colleges, then Visits. Students will see which college reps are visiting and when (class period/time) they will visit.

  1. Seniors have unlimited access to visits,

  2. Juniors have access to 5 visits,

  3. Sophomores/Fresh have access to 2 visits a year.

The one rule to visit is ALL students must get permission from their teacher to attend, at least 24 hours before the visit. So if the visit happens on a Monday, you must get permission by the Friday before in order to attend. After you sign up, print the sheet and have your teacher sign it. This will be your ticket to enter.
