Dear Families,

It is beginning to feel like fall! Our mornings are starting off cooler and ending with plenty of sunshine. Please be sure to send your child dressed in layers, as we do go outside both in the morning and midday.

We have noticed an uptick in students forgetting important items at home. To help with this, we encourage you to review the Wildcat Way to Start Your Day checklist with your child. One helpful tip is to set up a charging station in the same place as your child’s backpack. Placing the Chromebook on top of the backpack while it charges can help ensure nothing is left behind.

If your child does forget an item, please write their name and teacher’s name on it and drop it off in the foyer. Our office staff will deliver it to the pick-up table outside the office for your child to retrieve. To minimize classroom interruptions, we will not call into classrooms unless the item is of high value.

This morning, our students participated in the “I Love U Guys” Training, led by our School Resource Officer (SRO) and our School Marshal. This program is an important part of our safety practices, teaching students and staff clear, practical steps to take in the event of an emergency. Students asked thoughtful questions and showed a strong understanding of the importance of being prepared.

As part of the training, we also conducted a lockdown drill. We are proud of our students for listening carefully, following directions, and taking the drill seriously. These drills are a valuable way to help students feel confident and supported at school while reinforcing our shared commitment to safety. We encourage you to remind your child that these exercises are important for keeping everyone safe.

Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you enjoy the beautiful weekend ahead!

As we continue building positive routines, please refer to our Wildcat Way Checklist to help your child come to school prepared each day. This includes ensuring that students bring in:

  • A charged Chromebook

  • A water bottle

  • Any other materials needed to make their day successful

A few helpful tips:

  • Plug Chromebooks in before bedtime to ensure a full charge each morning.

  • Keep water bottles in a consistent spot (like next to the backpack) to remember them easily.

  • Encourage your child to do a quick "backpack check" each evening using the checklist.

Thank you for partnering with us to set your child up for success each day!

Counselor's Corner Counselor's Corner

Hi! My name is Krystal Mitkonis and I’m the mental health counselor at Windham Center School, it’s nice to “meet” you! This is my 6th year in the Windham School District and I serve students in regular education and those with IEP’s. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, twin boys, and Marvel…and making them listen to anything and everything Taylor Swift!

Hello! My name is Kristin Phillips and I am the school counselor at Windham Center School. I have been in the Windham School District for 8 years, and I service regular education and 504 students. Outside of school, I like to golf, ski, and am a college football fanatic!

At Windham Center School, we strive to normalize the importance of emotional wellness and mental health for all students. We provide students a welcoming environment and take a resilience-focused approach to their learning and development. We strive to meet students where they’re at through individual and group counseling, classwide lessons, and schoolwide initiatives, on topics such as mindfulness, resilience, kindness, and managing stress. At WCS, you can find the counselors in the Wellness Center, a classroom where we provide a welcoming and calming space available to all. This is also where you can find our school’s therapy dog, Marvel!

We look forward to sharing the year with your students!

Hello WCS Families,

We are pleased to announce that Ski Club will take place again this year! We will be going to Pat’s Peak on Thursday nights in January for five fun-filled nights of skiing and snowboarding (January 8, 15, 22, 29 & Feb. 5). Students of all levels are welcome to sign up, as there are lessons at the mountain.

This year, sign-ups will be emailed out on October 25th at 9:00 AM to allow for early bird pricing and for all families to have an option to sign up. (To receive early pricing, registration must be paid in FULL on or before 11/15/25.) Sign-ups will be first-come, first-served, and can be very competitive. When you go to sign up, you will need the names and numbers of TWO emergency contacts ready to be entered. If your child does not make the cut-off for the club, please email jlemay@windhamsd.org AND scronin@windhamsd.org, as email time stamps will also create the waitlist.

If you are new to Ski Club, here is some overview information:

- Please be advised that participation in this club entails additional expenses, including bus transportation fees and a Pats Peak ski pass. Families may select from a variety of pass types, depending on their preferences and budget.

- All students must pay for their spot on the bus and get their pass from Pat’s Peak.

- Videos of how to purchase tickets and detailed information can be found on the Ski Club Page for students who join the Ski Club.

- Ski Club Swag can be purchased this year!

- This year, you can pay for the Ski Club bus digitally or by check payable to Windham Center School.

- Pat’s Peak passes must be purchased directly through Pat’s Peak. Please see the video and/or PDF directions for 2025/2026 ski club members on the Ski Club page (only available for those who get into the club).

- Students leave WCS at 1:50 and will be responsible for gathering information and work from their missed classes.

- Students will have lessons (if purchased) from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and free skiing from 4:00 PM to 6:45 PM.

- Students who miss their check-in time (5:00 PM) cannot come the following week.

- Rental gear is available for anyone who needs it and can be purchased with their pass.

- Miss Lemay and Mrs. Cronin will email chaperones to alert them if they can be chaperones for their chosen night. You will then get a pass from Miss Lemay to ski/snowboard for the night.

-Mandatory Parent Meeting: If your child is accepted into the club, at least one parent/guardian must attend a required meeting on December 3rd at 5:30 PM. This meeting will cover all expectations, procedures, and important information for the club.

As always, if you have any questions, please email us at jlemay@windhamsd.org and scronin@windhamsd.org.

Thank you,

Jordan Lemay and Suzanne Cronin
