Three Weeks until Q3 ends and Spring Break begins
Monitoring Student LEARNING & MASTERY of NC Curriculum Standards
We have only three weeks left of the Quarter 3 grading period and we need all hands/minds on deck to help students finish this Q3 strong. This week's theme is supporting and monitoring student learning and mastery of NC curriculum standards. Last week we had several amazing family meetings where student, parent, teacher, counselor, social worker, curriculum coach, admin, and therapist worked together to develop strategies to help our students grow academically and socially. We all play an important role in helping EO Young students learn and succeed. Here are a few examples:
- TEACHERS delivering rigorous, engaging lessons aligned to core standards AND monitoring learning throughout lessons and learning units.
- STUDENTS focusing their attention and minds on lessons and learning, avoiding drama and distractions, completing assigned classwork & homework, collaborating, and asking thoughtful questions.
- OFFICE STAFF (curriculum coach, counselor, social worker, office staff, nurse, admin) providing guidance and support to staff, students, and families
- SUPPORT STAFF (bus drivers, cafeteria, custodians, IT specialists, mental health providers) ensuring students are well cared for throughout the day)
- FAMILIES (parents, guardians, siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles, caregivers, family friends) making sure students get to school on time every day, support learning at home, and encourage positive behaviors conducive to learning.
It truly takes a village and Tigers will CLIMB together. Let's have an amazing week focusing on academics and PAWsitive behaviors.

Get started today and be the first at our school to complete Finn’s Mission!
- Click Here to Register. or download the free “AHA Schools” app.
- Complete Finn’s Mission: Watch the 2-minute Hands-Only CPR video featuring cardiac arrest survivor, Damar Hamlin, and watch a music video on the warning signs of a stroke (F.A.S.T.).

These FREE workshops teach kids basic building skills, as well as safety. Home Depot’s Kids’ Workshops take place the first Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Find details and announcements on homedepot.com/c/kids.

Community Read Aloud at Perry Memorial Library
New program on Mondays from 5:30pm-6:15pm, starting January 22nd. It is called "Community Read Aloud" and the idea is that youth will have a chance to read to a volunteer with the National Honor Society Students from the Vance County Early College High School. There is no registration required but folks can let me know they are coming by emailing mpeters@perrylibrary.org. We are hoping to foster the love of reading and support an encouraging environment for learning and reading out loud as everyone gets a chance to listen to themselves and others read.
