District emails possibly going to Spam/Junk folders
We noticed that occasionally district emails end up in a recipient's Spam or Junk folder. As the district works through this unusual occurrence, here are a couple of strategies we can all use. If you are expecting an email from a staff member and haven't heard in a timely manner, please check these folders, or circle back to them with a new email. Typically, you will hear back from us on the same day you send your email, but certainly within 24 hours.
- Mark as "Not Spam": Open the email in Spam, click the "Not Spam" button at the top to teach Gmail.
- Add to Contacts: Add the sender's email address to your Google Contacts.
- Create a Filter: Go to Settings > Filters & Blocked Addresses > Create a new filter, enter the sender's email, and select "Never send it to Spam".
Intent to Withdraw

Lucky Duck
"Hello Yetis!!
Have you found a wandering Lucky Duck? Some of my lucky ducks wandered out of our office to be adopted by an eDCSD student or staff. If you found a duck please let me know.
Email Ms. Ahrens (alahrens@dcsdk12.org) and tell me what the number is on the bottom, where you found it and if you have named it. These Lucky Ducks are yours to keep or give to someone else who might need some luck or love. I have some other Lucky Ducks who are feeling restless and they may also be wandering and looking for adoption, if you see one take it. Enjoy your Lucky Duck!!"
Quarter 3 Virtual Parent Orientation
Due Date Policy 2025 - 2026
At eDCSD, our goal is to help students develop healthy work habits and time management skills.
Work each week will be assigned on Wednesday morning and will be due the following Tuesday night at 11:59 PM.
Students will be able to submit the work for an additional two weeks after the Tuesday night deadline. After an assignment has been open for 3 weeks, the assignment will close and will no longer be available for submission.
We hope that this policy helps to encourage students to work synchronously with the class while still allowing for the flexibility that eDCSD families desire.

Help Students and Families Save on College Tuition with WUE
As a new school year begins, rising juniors and seniors and their families are starting think seriously about college applications and the costs ahead.
We know affordability is often one of the biggest questions in those conversations. That’s where the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) can make a difference. WUE is the nation’s largest regional tuition savings program in terms of student enrollment and estimated savings.
Eligible students from participating Western states and Pacific territories pay no more than 150% of in-state tuition at 170 public colleges and universities across the region — opening doors to out-of-state options while keeping costs manageable.
You play a vital role in helping students explore their options and plan for the future. To help you guide students and families this fall, we’ve gathered these ready-to-use resources:
A short video explaining WUE eligibility and how to apply for the WUE rate
The WUE Tuition Savings Finder, an online dashboard with school profiles, eligible majors, and estimated tuition savings across the West
A downloadable PDF list of participating WUE schools
A slide deck highlighting WUE's benefits for your presentations
Our Frequently Asked Questions page
All of these tools are available for free at wiche.edu/wue and are updated as needed during the school year.
Our team is also here to support your work, so please reach out anytime at info-sap@wiche.edu.

Volunteer opportunity for DCSD High Schoolers
Our partners at the Douglas County Health Department have a volunteer opportunity for DCSD high school students if you would kindly share this opportunity with students.
Students will assemble the flip books for the Healthy Families Partnership bags. If there is additional time, they will also assemble the Healthy Families Partnership bags. They would also love to give the students a tour of the Health Department if time allows.
Students MUST sign up via SignUpGenius here. This is on a Teacher Orientation Day when no students are in the building. Additionally, students must be able to get to the Health Department and work independently. Upon completion, they will receive approval of their hours.
Point of contact for day of volunteering: Kelly Caldwell, 720-315-0482, kcaldwell@douglas.co.us
Students will need to go through security upon entry and let security know they are volunteering with the Health Department. They will be directed to head to the WIC office on the 3rd floor.
Toiletry Drive
A local Food Bank is asking for students to collect toiletry items to distribute to families in need.
The toiletry items are the typical travel sized soap and shampoo items that we would see in hotel rooms.
For every 10 items that a student collects, they can earn 1 hour of community service. Mr. Kellar will deliver the items to the Food Bank; students need to deliver the items to the eDCSD office.
