St Anthony's School News

Week 3 - Thursday 15th May 2025
St Anthony's School community works collaboratively to teach and live the values of Christ. While respecting tradition, and to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society, it strives to educate our children to their full potential.
Principal's Message
Prayer for Pope Leo XIV
Lord, source of eternal life and truth,
give your shepherd a spirit of courage and right judgement,
a spirit of knowledge and love.
By governing those entrusted to his care with fidelity,
may he, as successor to the Apostle Peter and Vicar of Christ,
build your Church into a sacrament of unity, love and peace for all the world.
Amen.

Thank You
I hope all the mothers and female carers in our community had a wonderful Mother’s Day last weekend. The children certainly loved the idea of picking their own gift for their mother or female carer from the array of gifts available at the P&F Mother’s Day stall.
It is important to acknowledge that such an event did not happen overnight; much work went on behind the scenes to organise it. A huge thank you to the P&F and to the many committee members who helped run the stall last week. Generously giving of your time made many children smile with delight at the prospect of the gift they were giving their mother/female carer.
Icy Poles are back!
Due to their popularity in Term 1, icy poles have returned for Term 2. With prices the same as last term, icy poles will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until the end of May.
Icy poles will not be sold during the Winter months (June-August). Sales will resume at the beginning of September.
All monies raised this term go to the Archbishop's LifeLink Winter Appeal and The St Anthony's Parish Vinnies group which assists needy people in our community. We thank you for your support of our fundraising efforts for both worthy causes.
Traffic Reminder
While I understand the pick-up traffic congestion that occurs from 2.30-3.10pm each day, please consider the following:
- The Road Traffic Act prevents drivers from entering a round-about unless they are also able to exit it. Therefore, whether you are heading west or east to turn into Servite Terrace, it is illegal to be stationery in the round-about while waiting for the pick-up line to move.
- We have some cars turning right onto Servite Terrace from the church carpark when they should be turning left and driving up Cafaggio Crescent. I acknowledge this is a longer way to get to the lights at Wanneroo Road but it safer than having an accident as your car is hit by a car driving to the Kindy carpark.
- Have you thought about parking in the hotel/Chinese restaurant carpark and walking into the school grounds to collect your child? This should reduce some of your wait times and the carpark congestion.
- Consider picking up your child/children 10 minutes later. At 3.05/3.10pm there are very few cars in the church pick-up line. Children can be picked up from the gate until 3.15pm. After that time, they will wait for you in the office.
- Is your child old enough and able to walk/ride to school rather than being picked up in a car? Better for their fitness and better for the environment.
Please remember that there are no easy solutions to the traffic congestion that occurs mostly in the afternoons. However, observing the road rules as well as patience and courtesy when waiting to proceed into or out of a carpark, can avoid near misses and/or accidents.
God Bless

We would like to remind families that St Anthony's is an allergy aware school. Therefore, for the health and safety of children and staff with allergies, peanut butter, Nutella, nuts and muesli bars containing nuts are not to be included in your child’s lunch.
School Prayer Competition
Help Us Reimagine Our School Prayer – Celebrating 90 Years of St Anthony’s!
This year marks an exciting milestone for St Anthony’s School – our 90th anniversary! As part of our celebrations, we are inviting students to take part in a special School Prayer Rewriting Competition.
This is a unique opportunity for students to reflect on our school values and the spirit of St Anthony, and help shape a new prayer that will become part of our community for years to come. We encourage creativity, faith, and heart in the entries – all voices are welcome.
✍️ Entries are due: Friday, 30th May
🎉 The winning prayer will be unveiled as part of our 90th anniversary celebrations later this year!
We look forward to seeing the faith and imagination of our students shine through.

School Code of Conduct
A reminder that every member of the St Anthony’s School community must behave in the manner described in our Code of Conduct.
Our Code is like the 40km/h speed limit outside our school in the mornings and afternoons. It defines behaviours that keep our students safe: at school, and elsewhere. Children and young people surrounded by adult and peer behaviours as outlined in the Code are more likely to recognise and choose healthy relationships for themselves.
Conduct Statements
- You act safely and competently.
- You give priority to students’ safety and well-being in all your behaviour and decision making.
- You act in accordance with the values of the Gospel as defined in the Code of Ethical Conduct.
- You conduct yourself in accordance with laws, agreements, policies and standards relevant to your relationship with the school community.
- You respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of each member of the school community.
- You treat personal information about members of the school community as private and confidential.
- You give impartial, honest and accurate information about the education, safety and well-being of students.
- You support all members of the school community in making informed decisions about students.
- You promote and preserve the trust and privilege inherent in your relationship with all members of the school community.
- You maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.
- You act reflectively and ethically.
- You allow students to have a voice in their education, safety and well-being
The Code describes the minimum requirements expected of all members of our community and that all in our community conduct themselves personally and professionally in a way that maintains public trust and confidence in our school and the Church. While mandatory language such as ‘must’, ‘shall’ and ‘will’ is not used throughout the Code, there is a presumption the conduct described is mandatory and therefore not optional.
WA Student Assistance Payment
The WA Student Assistance Payment helps parents and carers with the cost-of-living pressures associated with sending their children to school.
The second round of the payment is now open, with claim submissions available through the ServiceWA app.
All Western Australian school students in Kindergarten to Year 12, with a valid WA student number (WASN), are eligible for this cost-of-living payment.
You can claim $250 for each secondary student and $150 for students attending primary school or Kindergarten.
To claim the payments, parents and carers are encouraged to set up a ServiceWA account. More information is available by clicking on the button below.
All claims must be received by Friday 4 July 2025.
