We're Back, Baby! We're Back, Baby!

WHEW!!!

After a wild end to last season, your Board took some much needed R&R over the summer and we hope you did too!🥳 But now, we're back, and ready to tackle this upcoming spring season with a renewed sense of excitement and vigor!

Your Board has already been hard at work, tackling those pesky legal "to-dos," securing plans for spring, feverishly attempting to recruit coaches (and yes! it's already time to start thinking about coaching!), and so many other things.

So, in case you missed it, here's what we've been up to this summer and fall!

Our Logo

Did some of you *catch* it...??

We brought back the old logo, baby!!🤩

After discovering that last year's logo was extremely difficult to print (hence no swag), it was overwhelming and unanimously voted in to bring it BACK! So here's to all you old timers and multi-generational "Snowline Heads" out there....this one's for YOU.💙

Annual General Members Meeting

Our Annual General Members Meeting took place on July 31st at the Pollock Pines Camino Community Center. Recall that our league is required to host an General Members meeting annually, per Little League, federal, and state guidelines. This meeting consists of the Board of Directors, a representative from District 54, and members of Snowline Little League in good-standing. Within this meeting, several things happen: (1) the condition of the league is reviewed, (2) the Treasurer provides an overview of the financial state of the league, (2) the league's Constitution is reviewed, (3) Members are reviewed, and (4) the nominations for the Board of Directors for the upcoming year are presented and the Board is voted on. (**Note that the positions each elected Board member takes on is voted in a subsequent, regular Board meeting)

A Snowline Little League Member is defined as:

  • Current year Managers, Coaches, Board Members, Local League Officers, and any registered volunteer, who have completed a background check.
  • Any adult person actively interested in furthering the objectives of the Local League may become a Regular Member upon approval by the Board and payment of $2 per person, due prior to the members meeting, annually. Upon receipt of a written request to become a Member, the Board of Directors shall vote upon the request at the next scheduled Board of Directors meeting.

You can find the minutes of the 2024/25 Season General Members Meeting below.

Banking/Volunteer Fee Refunds

After this past season, your President and Treasurer decided it was time to switch banking institutions as we were constantly running into problems and getting charged fees we didn't feel were justified. Snowline Little League now banks with Chase Bank. It's only been a short time but already we are liking it so much better!

That said, this transition created a gap in our ability to refund volunteer fees to those that completed their required hours.

SO, if you completed your hours and turned in your form but have NOT received your refund, please reach out to president@snowlinell.com or amandamoore@snowlinell.com so we can reconcile our debt to you.

We appreciate your patience in this and sincerely apologize for the delay.

Registration

For starters, your Board had big plans to open registration on November 15th, but unfortunately we've run into some major tech snafus. We live in a tech driven age so we suppose this is to be expected, but good golly is it wildly inconvenient!

To make a long and confusing story short, we are basically locked out of the backend of our website, and could potentially lose our domain and access to our emails as well. Talk about a beginning-of-the-season nightmare..!!😅

Without the ability to access our website, we quite literally cannot create a program for you to register for.

We are actively working with an IT specialist and hope to have everything back to normal within the next week or so. Again, we sincerely appreciate your patience as your NON-tech-savvy-yet-humble-volunteers work this out.

Secondly, in an effort to help families budget, we have attached the registration flyer below. You will notice that the cost per division has increased. Please know that your Board battled heavily with this increase. Unfortunately, due to the rising cost of goods, services, insurance, etc., we were simply left with no choice if we are to stay afloat and continue operations to the best of our ability.

To hopefully help ease some of the sticker shock and explain the rationale behind our decision, we'd like to provide you with the following information:

  • Our registration fees are aligned with Hangtown LL, and remain the lowest in our District (there are 12 leagues in our district)
  • We incurred an increase in the District-wide Player Assessment Fee, now $8 per player (these are annual fees each league pays to our District based on the number of players registered, regardless of whether or not they end up playing)
  • We incurred an increase in Team Charter Fees payable to Little League International (these are annual fees due to LLI that allow us to play and operate under their organization)
  • We incurred an increase in cost for our Insurance Policy premiums. (Note that we are required to hold a minimum of a $1 million policy, even if we only use a facility/field once. This often leads to having to purchase upwards of half a dozen policies per season)
  • We incurred an increase in cost for our umpires, which is why the upper divisions increased slightly more in margin than the lower divisions
  • We are going to incur an increase in cost for uniforms (NO. MORE. A's!!)
  • We are going to incur an increase in cost for replacing our outdated and non-compliant equipment/gear
  • We are going to incur an increase in cost for awards/plaques/medals due to tariffs
  • We are going to incur new costs (in the thousands) due to new California legislation regarding safety equipment in youth sports (AB1476 & AB310)

Additionally, please know that your player registration fees are also utilized to cover field prep and maintenance costs (bases, chalk, etc.), tournament costs, operations (utilities, portable toilets, supplies, marketing, background checks, etc.), taxes, and the like. The cost of just about everything has risen and we are simply trying to keep up. We appreciate your understanding in this and are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this increase.

***PLEASE NOTE that we still plan to host and honor an early bird discount of $50 off the first player's registration through December 31, 2025, as well as honor payment plans, should you need to utilize one.

Spring Season Assessments/Post-Season Play

As you can see on the flyer, Spring season assessments will be held on January 10th and 11th. Please earmark these dates in your calendar if you have a Minor AA player or above. Time and place is TBD.

If you want your player(s) to be eligible in post-season play (All Stars, Tournament of Champions, Regionals, etc) YOU MUST ATTEND ASSESSMENTS. By not attending, you automatically forfeit your player's opportunity to play. This is a Little League International rule and there is nothing your local league administrators can do to exempt you from this requirement.

This past season, your Board elected to not participate in post-season gaming, as we were struggling to get back on our feet and we wanted to make sure we were doing right by the kids.

We are happy to announce that not only will we be actively trying to get one or more teams qualified, but we will also be HOSTING!!! Stay tuned throughout the season for more information. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our fabulous Snack Shack and bring in additional revenue at the end of the season.
