Digital Wellness
Tech Tip Tuesday (October 15, 2024)
Although Common Sense Education has a ton of free to help promote this in your classroom, I want to focus on one that is for both teachers AND students, digital wellness.
As educators, we play a crucial role in helping our students develop healthy digital habits.
Here are some easy and effective strategies with resources to promote digital wellness in your classroom:
Model Positive Behavior
- Set clear boundaries for device usage during class time
- Practice mindful technology use during breaks
- Share your own strategies for maintaining digital balance
Integrate Digital Wellness into Teaching
- Discuss the impact of technology on mental health
- Analyze digital media consumption
- Explore the ethics of technology use, especially AI in education
Teach Critical Thinking Skills
- Introduce fact-checking techniques
- Explore the concept of digital footprints
- Encourage critical analysis of social media posts
