💙 DIVISION CHAMPIONS ... AGAIN!! 💙

Shockwaves, you did it!

For the second year in a row, we are Division Champions! 🎉⚡

What an amazing season filled with personal bests, team records, big wins, and unforgettable memories. We couldn't be prouder of all the hard work, dedication, and heart our swimmers have shown all summer long.

But more than the trophies and records, we're proud of the way you support each other, cheer each other on, and truly have fun as a team. That's what makes the Shockwaves so special.

We still have two invitationals left, but tonight let's take a moment to celebrate everything we've accomplished together and recognize our incredible athletes and rockstar volunteers who help make this team possible.

Enjoy the banquet, celebrate with your teammates, and be proud of all you've achieved!

OFFICIAL'S CORNER

This past weekend was exciting to watch! Congratulations to the Coaches and swimmers for winning the Division! Good luck to everyone participating in the End of Season Invitationals!

This week we will look at backstroke for our rule highlight.

There were a few incidents during Divisionals that kids had their toes curled over the gutter at the start of the race. That is prohibited. So below are some of the rules for backstroke.

2026 NWAL Rulebook Highlight

C. BACKSTROKE

2. START

i. Swimmer shall line up in water, facing the starting end.
ii. Both hands shall rest on the end of the pool deck or on any part of the starting
platform or block or on the starting block grips.
iii. Feet may be placed in any position on the end of the pool, but placing the toes above
the lip of the gutter, or bending the toes over the lip of the gutter or top of the coping or
end of the pool, before or after the start, is prohibited.

3. STROKE

i. The swimmer shall push off on his/her back and continue swimming on his/her back
throughout the race.

5. FINISH

i. The swimmer completes the race when any part of his/her person touches the wall at
the end of the pool.
ii. Upon the finish of the race, the swimmer must touch the wall while on the back, i.e.
shoulders at or past vertical toward the back.
