Honor Differences & Care for Others”

A SUCCESSFUL DIGGER DASH A SUCCESSFUL DIGGER DASH

We are thrilled to share that our annual Digger Dash was a tremendous success Friday! Students and staff came together for a fantastic day of fitness and fun. The enthusiasm was palpable as everyone laced up their running shoes and joined in on this beloved tradition.

The Digger Dash not only brought joy to our community but also served a great purpose. As you are aware, the funds raised will go towards purchasing new furniture for our shared learning spaces. The remodel will enhance the comfort and functionality of our school environment.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the families who came out to cheer us on. Your support truly made the event special. We also want to extend a special shoutout to our incredible PTO and the dedicated parent volunteers whose hard work and dedication made the Digger Dash possible.

For those who have yet to contribute, we would like to remind you that all Digger Dash donations are due by September 30th. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and plays a crucial role in supporting our school’s initiatives.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support. Together, we are making a positive difference in our school community!

EXPLORING SCIENCE USING THE 5E MODEL EXPLORING SCIENCE USING THE 5E MODEL

We are excited to share that our students are deeply immersed in hands-on science units across various grade levels! It is the goal to foster a love for science through engaging and interactive learning experiences.

All our grade levels are utilizing the STEMScopes resource which uses a 5 E Model to teach science concepts. This approach includes the following elements:

  • Engage: Spark interest in the topic.

  • Explore: Conduct investigations and hands-on activities.

  • Explain: Develop and articulate their understanding.

  • Elaborate: Apply their knowledge to new situations.

  • Evaluate: Reflect on their learning and assess their understanding.

Current Projects in Life Science

  • Third Grade: Our third graders are diving into life science by growing grass seeds and observing the fascinating life cycle of ladybugs. This project provides them with a firsthand look at plant growth and insect development, making scientific concepts come alive.

  • Fifth Grade: Fifth graders are exploring how different seeds grow without soil. This experiment helps them understand how different variables affect plant growth, which fosters a deeper comprehension of plant biology.

We are thrilled to see our students so engaged and enthusiastic about their science explorations. These hands-on activities not only enhance their understanding of scientific concepts but also develop critical thinking and observational skills.

SCHOOL SECURITY MEASURES SCHOOL SECURITY MEASURES

In light of recent news events, we understand that concerns about safety may be on your minds. It’s important to remember that schools, including Gold Rush Elementary, are among the safest places for children. We want to assure you that we have robust measures in place to maintain a secure and nurturing environment for your child. Below are some of our routine safety measures.

  1. Partnership with Parker Police Department: We are fortunate to have a strong relationship with our local police. Our School Resource Officer (SRO) visits daily, securing the perimeter and coordinating with our school administration to ensure safety.

  2. Dedicated Security Personnel: Our School Security Officer, Mrs. Hemmingway, along with the SRO, serves as an additional layer of security. Their presence and vigilance help keep our school environment secure.

  3. Surveillance and Access Control: Our security cameras monitor the interior and exterior of the building, providing an additional level of oversight. All entries to Gold Rush are secured and can only be accessed using staff badges. Visitors must buzz in through a locked entry to gain access to the school.

  4. Emergency Drills: Students and staff regularly practice fire drills and lockdown drills throughout the year. We will provide more information about our first lockdown drill, scheduled for the end of this month, closer to the date.

Your Role in Our Safety

We greatly appreciate your cooperation during drop-off and pick-up times. Your adherence to our procedures play a crucial role in maintaining a secure environment for all. If you have any concerns or notice anything unusual, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. We value your partnership in keeping our community safe.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for being a vital part of our Gold Rush family. Together, we ensure that Gold Rush remains a safe and welcoming place for all our students.
