I encourage you to join this network. As we start to build this resource we will need our teachers, counselors, as well as industry professionals to be a part of this effort to better align with one another.

In the last newsletter we announced the impending launch the launch of the Northwest Connect Career Hub, a new regional platform for Oregon and Southwest Washington designed to connect educators, students, and industry partners across the Portland-Metro area. Replacing the former Clackamas Connect Career Hub, this enhanced web-based system makes it easier than ever to build partnerships that bring real-world learning into the classroom.

Through the Hub, educators can quickly find guest speakers, site tours, job shadows, and internships that align with their CTE programs. Just click on the "Search Directory" link Employers can post opportunities, determine what level of engagement that can participate, and help shape the future workforce, all through one streamlined platform.

The Northwest Connect Career Hub is free for both schools and businesses/industry partners. I encourage you to create an account. All users must be associated with a school so please use your work email when signing up. Only registered users are able to connect with member industry partners. We will be adding more partners to the directory each week.

The Northwest Connect Career Hub is a collaboration of the Clackamas Career Technical Education Consortium, Clackamas Education Service District, Clackamas Community College, the Clackamas Workforce Partnership, and the South Metro-Salem STEM Partnership

For those programs that have revied state-funded Secondary Career Pathways Grants, your budgets have been approved by ODE. For Clackamas County, that would be 53 of our 80 CTE programs of study for a total of $320,409. .

As this is the first year of the two-year grant, you actually have until 6-30-2027 to spend those funds.

Please check with your school's CTE administrator to see if you can start purchasing with those funds.

A new survey from the research firm Britebound finds parents are increasingly open to career and technical education, even as traditional college remains their top preference for after high school.

Parents are becoming more open to career and technical education as an alternative to the traditional four-year college path. CTE in the past has been viewed as an alternative option for students who were not academically inclined. This belief is changing: 35 percent of parents now say CTE is best suited for high-achieving students, up from 13 percent in 2019.
