GUYS AND DOLLS Announced as All-School Musical for 2026-2027
We are thrilled to announce that the 2026-2027 All-School Musical will be Guys & Dolls!
This will be a landmark production for our school - the last time Guys & Dolls graced the LaGuardia stage was 15 years ago, and we feel the time is right to bring it back.
This classic American musical is a perfect fit for LaGuardia. Its iconic score, rich characters, and theatrical heart offer extraordinary opportunities across every discipline - from acting and music to dance and design. It calls for a large, diverse ensemble, giving as many of our students as possible a meaningful role in the production. The show's humor, romance, and timeless themes of community, faith, and second chances give our students real dramatic and artistic depth to explore.
Guys & Dolls feels like exactly the right choice to follow the phenomenal West Side Story - a truly magnificent accomplishment made possible by the talent, dedication, and hard work of so many members of our LaGuardia community. To everyone who contributed to that spectacular production, thank you. It set a high bar.
Information about the audition process is expected to be released the end of April, once the creative staff is finalized.
From the Attendance Office
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to support your child's school experience. For those who may not yet be familiar with the school's procedures regarding Early Dismissals, we would like to clarify the process so that future requests can be handled smoothly and efficiently.
Whenever a student needs to leave school early, a parent or guardian must send an email request in advance. If the email is being sent from the verified email address we have on file in NYSCA, no additional verification is required. However, if the request is sent from an email address that is not the verified one on file, the parent or guardian must include a photo of a valid state ID in the email so that we can verify the request before releasing the student.
Please also note that the same email address used to request early dismissals should be used to report student absences as well. All attendance related communication should be sent to:
Lagattendance@NYCDOE.onmicrosoft.com
Providing requests through this email helps ensure that the attendance team can properly document and process the information in a timely manner. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we follow these procedures to ensure the safety and proper documentation of all students.
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to reach out.
Premier Jazz Competition Recognizes 4 LaG Musicians
We are proud to announce that the LaGuardia Jazz Orchestra earned four Outstanding Soloist Awards at the Essentially Ellington New York City Regional Festival, held this past Saturday. The following students were recognized for their exceptional artistry:
• Guillermo Pena-Nissenblatt, Tenor Saxophone
• Dillon Cato, Trumpet
• Jojo Roses, Guitar
• Rahm Benari, Drums
Essentially Ellington, presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center, is among the most respected jazz education competitions in the United States. Earning four individual honors is a remarkable distinction and a testament to the hard work of our students under the direction of Mr. Blancq. Please join us in congratulating the entire Jazz Orchestra on this outstanding achievement.

In Track and Field news! The girls did well at the City Championships. Naomi Douglas finished 2nd in the 1500 meters and 3000 meters and medaled 4th in the 4 by 800 meters, which also had June Grunden, Leah Belyavsky, and Virginia Begley. Douglas also finished Top 10 at states in the 1500 meters.
In Boys Track & Field news, at yesterday’s cold and windy Spring Series 1 meet, Tyler Jean-Francois, Gavriel Carmi and Captain Alber Zheng absolutely dominated their heats of the 100 meter dash, each taking gold. In the 2 mile run, Wyatt Weller followed suit taking gold with Ruben Carmi, doing his personal best. Terry Whitfield launched the 12 pound shot-put over 28 feet, a solid debut! And in the 800, Jackson INGVOLDSTAD, Ethan Buchwald and Mason Lai also did their personal best. Gooooooo Lions!
