PTA/PTSA Excellence Program (PEP)
Happy New Year!
Can you believe it's 2024 already?! All of your Standards of Affiliation (SOA) items should be uploaded into the Giveback system (formally MemberHub), your annual Michigan PTA dues should have been sent in, and your annual Livonia PTSA Council dues should have been sent in by this point. If you have not completed these tasks, you need to do so as soon as possible to be in good standings with Michigan PTA, National PTA, and Livonia PTSA Council, as well as to receive your tax exempt letter from Michigan PTA.
This is a fun time of year! As we look forward to the Chili Cook Off, Founders' Day, Youth Making A Difference, and more, remember there are still ways to earn more PEP points. Don't wait too long to submit your PEP items as the PEP season will be over at the end of April for this year. Be sure to review the breakdown on Livonia PTSA Council's website to see how your unit is doing. You can do this at https://livoniaptsacouncil.org/work/pep/ . If you have any questions, please feel free to contact PEP at PEP@livoniaptsacouncil.org.
Have a great January!

Fundraiser Opportunity at USA Hockey Arena
Please see below message from Erika Hansen, Senior Consultant, Sales & Service, USA Hockey National Team Development Program / USA Hockey Arena:
I work with many of the local schools to help host school events and fundraisers at the USA Hockey games. Both of my parents are teachers, so this is the favorite part of my job!
Below is the regular schedule and the 5 Nations Tournament schedule. A school is welcome to host an event at any game that fits their calendar!
We usually offer $15 tickets with $3 per ticket donated to the PTA; sometimes schools forego the fundraiser and offer $12 tickets. The PTA can sell the tickets themselves, or simply promote the event and I will handle the ticket sales portion. After, you receive a check for $3 times X number of tickets!
Everyone with the school is seated together and the school receives a group welcome on the videoboard!
There are also additional opportunities for schools:
1) National Anthem Performance (usually the 4th or 5th grade does this)
2) High-Five Tunnel (up to 30 students, they get to high-five the team pregame)
3) Player Visit at school (usually the week or 2 prior to the game, the players can come during school pick-up, lunchtime, or an assembly).
We have two current players (Charlies Van Vliet and Joey Slavick) that attended Livonia schools growing up, so I would love to help bring out more Livonia students to cheer them on!
Anyone who is interested or has questions can reach me email Erika.Hansen@usahockey.org or by calling (734)-453-0818.
Thank you,
Erika
Fundraiser Opportunity at Urban Air
Please see below message from Melissa Huebner, Special Event Consultant at Urban Air Adventure Park:
I wanted to let you know that we also offer Spirit Nights & other fundraisers as explained below.
We sponsor a night for your organization and we offer discounted ticket pricing and pizza for your group set up through our Spirit Nights!
● All Spirit Night proceeds will be tallied up and 20% will be given back to your organization through a check. We even provide you with marketing materials to help you promote the event.
● Urban Air values our educational & non-profit communities and has given back THOUSANDS of dollars through our fundraiser events
Another fundraiser style is where you sell tickets to be used at the buyer's discretion think of Girl Scout cookies. Then you receive a check back from us based on the type and number of tickets you sell.
We also offer field trips. I would love to discuss any of this with you in further detail. I look forward to hearing from you.
Have a great day!

COUNCIL'S UNIT SPOTLIGHT
Kennedy Elementary
The month of December has been busy over at Kennedy!
The Santa Shop returned this December and multiple families participated. Our PTA worked hard along with many parent volunteers to make it a great experience for all!
The PTA sponsored another fun skate night at Riverside in December. This is always a great way for families to get together and have fun outside of school. There was a nice turnout and everyone had a wonderful time.
Our beloved “Buddy the Elf” returned this month and passed out a book to each student. This is a fun tradition put on by the PTA at Kennedy the students look forward to each holiday season.
The same day Buddy visited we also offered a dine out at Buddy’s Pizzeria in Livonia. Who doesn’t love a slice of pizza after school?
In addition, “Coins for a Cause” returned in December and as a school we were able to raise $2888.07! All the funds raised were used to stock the toy closet at Mott’s Children’s Hospital. Way to go to all our families who contributed!
At the end of December, the PTA sponsored a school wide assembly entitled “Les Trouble Problem Investigator.” Our students and staff alike enjoyed learning problem solving skills that can be utilized in the real world for years to come.
Last but not least, our PTA loves to spoil our staff and gifted them with a yummy lunch from Chipotle for all their hard work heading into break and the holiday season.
Overall, it was a fun and festive filled month at Kennedy!
Randolph Elementary
Hello LPS families! .On December 14th, we had our last event for the year, the Jolly Jamboree. Santa came and visited. The kids got to enjoy telling Santa what they wanted for Christmas and parents enjoyed getting those holiday card pictures in! We had activities and a fun movie, The Grinch! We also had the obok fair that was a HUGE success. Thanks to Mrs. Zaar, our librarian, and all the volunteers, the book fair outdid last year's sales! Amazing! We have had so much fun this year and wanted to be sure we took the time to thank all our Randolph families who have volunteered and supported the PTA. To our Randolph faculty and Mrs. Linn, thank you for all you do and for a great first half of the school year! Happy New Year!
Webster Elementary
We had so much fun at Webster in December! We hosted our annual Holiday Shop where students were allowed to come and shop for their loved ones. The board had as much fun as the kids! Items ranged in price from $.25 to $13.50 and we sold A LOT.
On December 14, the PTA offered a "drop and shop" to our PTA members. Members could drop off their child(ren) at school from 6-8 p.m. for a cost of $5. Then they could do holiday shopping or have a date night or whatever. Parents said it was really nice and found it helpful.
One of our fundraisers for the month was at Five Below. Every year, we schedule one week where Webster gets 10% of sales when presenting the provided flyer. It's a great chance for everyone to get some holiday shopping done and support our school.
