Black History Month
February is recognized as Black History Month—a meaningful time to honor and celebrate the contributions, achievements, and history of Black Americans.
Throughout the month, we encourage families to talk with their children about the importance of Black History Month and to explore stories, quotes, videos, and discussions that highlight influential Black leaders and changemakers. These conversations help children appreciate the individuals who are shaping our world today, as well as those who paved the way in generations past.
It is important for children to understand that, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or any other characteristic that makes them unique, they are valued, capable, and full of potential. Inviting your child to share their own experiences, traditions, and perspectives is a wonderful way to foster understanding, respect, and meaningful dialogue.
