SMS Weekly Update
What's Happening This Week:
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Our PTSO asks that students bring a snack or a card to their favorite teachers on Tuesday, the 6th. We appreciate the countless hours you put into preparing lessons and "empowering all students to achieve learning at high levels"! Your commitment is invaluable. Thank you for your dedication and passion for teaching.
Also, Wednesday the 7th, is School Nurse Day! Thank you Jenson Sand for helping our students everyday. You are a ray of sunshine around here! Thank you for helping our kids when they're feeling their worst.
May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! The theme is βA Legacy of Leadership and Resilienceβ. This theme honors the hard work of leaders who set the foundation for future generations to thrive and adapt to change and adversity. We pay tribute to people like Lieutenant Susan Ahn Cuddy. She prevailed against anti-Asian sentiments during World War II to become the first Korean American woman in the U.S. military and the first female Navy gunnery officer. Over the course of this month we will remember different leaders who have shown resilience and courage.
State Testing is coming up in May. Important reminders for your students:
- Go to bed at a reasonable time to get good sleep
- Eat breakfast, even something small will help!
- Bring a water bottle and dress for comfort in class
Total # of students with A or A-: 397
