Important Arrival/Dismissal Reminders for Roosevelt Families โ ๏ธ
Dear Roosevelt Families,
As we move into the final month of the school year, it can be tempting to let routines slideโbut this is actually the most critical time for consistent attendance! Staying on track now ensures our students are fully prepared for end-of-year milestones and their transition to the next grade.
๐Routine & Reliability
Consistent attendance helps students stay connected to their peers and maintain their learning momentum. Every lesson builds on the last, and being here in person and on time makes all the difference. Let's keep our attendance "Excellent" all the way to the finish line!
Every Minute Counts: Our Morning Schedule
- 8:25 AM: Doors open for breakfast & staff supervision begins.
- 8:35 AM: Regular arrival begins.
- 8:45 AM: School starts promptly.
๐ซ Aiming for an 8:35 AM arrival gives your child the "soft landing" they need to organize their materials and start the day with a smile.
โ ๏ธ Important Safety Reminders
To keep our Roosevelt Colts safe every single day, we need your direct partnership with the following arrival/dismissal procedures:
1. Morning Supervision & Early Arrivals
Recently, we have noticed a number of students arriving at school far too early. Unfortunately, when students are left unsupervised, we are seeing them make choices that are not safe or appropriate for school.
Please note that staff supervision does not begin until 8:25 AM. If your child is arriving at 8:10 AM, they are left entirely unattended.
- For Walkers: Please use Google Maps or the map application on your cell phone to calculate your child's walking route. Adjust their departure time from home so they arrive no earlier than 8:25 AM (if eating breakfast) or 8:35 AM (for regular arrival).
- For Vehicle Drop-offs: Please DO NOT allow your child out of your vehicle until the appropriate doors open and staff are present at 8:25 AM or 8:35 AM.
2. Use the Crosswalks at ALL Times ๐ธ
Pedestrian safety during our busy arrival and dismissal windows is a top priority. We have been in active communication with the Manville PD regarding traffic safety around the school, and you may have already noticed their digital sign communicating the critical importance of this message.
Please obey the law and use designated crosswalks at all times when crossing the street. A huge thank you to Mr. Paco and our crossing guards, who are out there every day helping to direct traffic and encouraging our families to cross safely!
Please take a moment to review the attached Arrival & Dismissal Procedures (also available in our student/parent handbook and your child's HW agenda) to ensure you are familiar with our safe traffic patterns and timing. We appreciate your partnership in keeping our morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups seamless and safe for everyone!
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe and for making every school day count!
We Want to Hear From You! NJ SCI Parent Survey Re-opened
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Your voice matters deeply to us. Back in April, we shared the New Jersey School Climate Improvement (NJ SCI) Parent Survey to gather your feedback on our school environment. Because we want to ensure every family has an opportunity to be heard, we have decided to re-open the survey for a final window. Our total is now up to 53 parents completing the survey - THANK YOU!
If you did not have a chance to complete it last month, please take a few minutes to share your thoughts with us. Your feedback helps us understand what we are doing well and where we can improve to better support your children.
