Golden Milestone: Mid-Year Grads Step Into Their Next Chapter
Cheers filled the Harker Heights High School auditorium last week as 50 Killeen ISD graduates crossed the stage at our mid-year commencement—celebrating a hard-earned finish and a bright new beginning. With support from family, principals, trustees, and Superintendent Dr. King Davis, students marked this moment with pride, purpose, and a little cap-toss magic.
Calendar Change: February 13 is Now a Regular School Day
Thanks for your patience this week as we navigated icy weather. Our main goal is to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Because we missed three days of school, Friday, February 13 will now be a regular school day to make up lost instructional time and keep our calendar on track. We’re grateful we have enough minutes banked that we only need to make up one day — and that a make-up day was already designated on the calendar for this exact situation.
A Tie-Tying Lesson That Meant So Much More
At Willow Springs Elementary, Communities In Schools recently brought male mentors together with third-, fourth- and fifth-grade boys for “Two Ties, One Goal – Building Up to Manhood.” Through honest conversation, encouragement, and a tie-tying lesson, students talked about goals, confidence, and making positive choices. It’s a golden reminder that when caring adults show up consistently, students win.
