📢 Reminder for TOMS Families!
Schools will be closed to students on Monday, Feb. 16 and Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Please note that Tuesday, Feb. 17 is a teacher work day.
Enjoy the long weekend! 😊
This week is National Bus Driver Appreciation Week!
At TOMS, we take this very seriously. The men and women on the road and at the Depot Office care deeply for our children and make their job look easy — even though we know it’s anything but.
They navigate crazy weather, busy traffic, and long days, all while helping keep our schools running smoothly. We know they’re not thanked nearly enough, so this week we hope to put a smile on their faces with a special lunchbox treat!
Thank you, HCS - Carolina Forest Bus Drivers — we appreciate you more than you know!
Congratulations
Congratulations to Mr. Scott Wilson, our TOMS Staff Member of the Week!
He was nominated by Mrs. Karin Booth.
Mr. Wilson is our Custodial technician at TOMS and this is his 2nd year here.
My favorite middle school memories was being in Mr. Luther’s class. Math was tough for me, but he never gave up—he took the time to help me understand and succeed. Truly made a difference in my life.
My advice to my middle school self would be...work hard and stay true to yourself.
Dr. JoLynn Prochaska, our District Teacher of the Year, received a special visit today from South Carolina State Teacher of the Year, Mr. Corey Bedenbaugh. While in the area speaking to Teacher Cadets at Coastal Carolina University, Mr. Bedenbaugh made a meaningful stop at Ten Oaks Middle to personally congratulate Dr. Prochaska and connect with our school community. We are grateful for his time, encouragement, and continued support of educators across our state.
TOMS Sixth grade scientists struck gold during an exciting rock mining adventure with Diamond Dell at Ten Oaks this week!
Sixth grade scientists dug into discovery during an exciting rock mining experience with Diamond Dell! Students had the opportunity to get hands-on as they sifted, sorted, and identified a variety of rocks and minerals.
Through this engaging activity, they explored key characteristics such as color, texture, hardness, and luster, bringing their classroom learning to life. The experience sparked curiosity and gave students a deeper appreciation for the fascinating world of geology.
First up, Mrs. Rich and Mr. DeBell's classes!
Stay tuned for more detailed information! There will be before school, during lunch, and dismissal options to shop as well as an evening options open to families.

BUS
Dear TOMS Parents/Guardians,
In an effort to minimize classroom disruptions and maintain a focused learning environment, we are implementing a few new procedures effective immediately:
Lunch Drop-Offs
If a student’s lunch is dropped off at the front office, it will be placed on a designated cart near the security desk.
Students will not be called out of class to pick up their lunch.
Please remind your child to check the cart if they realize they do not have their lunch.
Other Item Drop-Offs
If other items (e.g., forgotten computers, books, clothing, etc.) are delivered for a student, an email will be sent to the teacher of the class the student is currently attending.
Teachers will check their email regularly throughout the day so students can receive their items in a timely manner.
Changes in Dismissal
Any changes to your child’s transportation home should be communicated prior to your student arriving at school.
Dismissal changes cannot be made over the phone after 2:00 PM to allow sufficient time to notify both the teacher and student.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
