Don't Rain On Our Parade!

The wet weather couldn't dampen the fun of Homecoming at SHS this week. HOCO week contained plenty of fun for students and staff. Check out photos from the dress up days and coronation, as well as Friday's activities that included float building, gym time, the dodgeball and lipsync tournaments, and pep fest.

"Fore" Cheers for Kenzley!

Kenzley Heath participated in a junior golf program called Drive, Chip & Putt, which hosts qualifying competitions throughout the United States. She qualified for the Regional Competition last year and again this year. This year’s Regional Competition was held at the beautiful Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado.

Kenzley finished 4th out of 12 competitors overall. She had an outstanding performance in two of the three events, finishing 3rd in the chipping portion and 1st in putting.

Drive, Chip & Putt is a highly competitive program with 353 local qualifying sites across all 50 states, 64 subregional sites, and 10 regional sites. The winners of each regional competition earn a trip to the National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, held the Sunday before the Masters Tournament in April.

Student Conductors Show Off Skills

SHS was treated to a concert by members of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra this week as they performed some of the pieces written by area students, including Sindre (pictured) and Aesa Strand of Sisseton. Students participated in a summer workshop with symphony talent where they learned how to compose music before their world debut at the Performing Arts Center this week.
