The Barnard Broadcaster
Dear Families,
The first week of school is upon us, and we are excited and ready to welcome everyone back to school tomorrow! I know this week brings a lot of mixed emotions from excitement to nervousness for both parents and students. Know that the teachers and I are right there with you, but please have peace of mind knowing that we have worked hard to prepare for a great start to the year!
Tonight, you will get a phone call with a special recorded message from Mrs. Bush at 7:00pm. This message is for all the Barnard Blue Jays, so have them close by so they can hear from Mrs. Bush on the night before the first day of school. π
We are very excited for an amazing year ahead!
In partnership,
Karen Bush
Principal, Barnard Elementary School

π Barnard Arrival and Dismissal Procedures π
Supervision of students is available starting at 8:55 am.
For your child's safety, please do not drop off students any earlier as we do not have adult supervision. When students arrive, they should report to their assigned waiting area. Students waiting area is outside their exterior classroom doors. The Safety Patrol is on duty 10 minutes before school and 10 minutes after school.
Teacher's open classroom doors at 9:04 am.
All students should be in seats ready to start school by 9:09am.
AM - ππ - Curbside Drop Off
Please have your child ready to quickly exit the car on the curbside of your vehicle. Drivers MUST remain inside the vehicle. We make every attempt to have adults assisting students out of the car.
- Cars will remain in a single-file row, along the curb, as they approach the designated Drop-Off area. Plan ahead as the line gets long, start drop off at 8:55am.
- Remaining in a single-file row, pull up as far as possible before stopping to allow your child to exit. As a driver, do not exit your vehicle, this is a drop-off only lane.
- Cautiously re-enter the flow of cars when you are ready to pull away from the curb.
AM - Park and Walk πΆπ»ββοΈto Classroom door πͺ
- For Kindergarten, please park your car and escort your child from the parking spot to the outside classroom door. If your Kindergartener has an older sibling, they may escort them to their classroom door. We encourage students in grades 1-5 to be dropped off at the curbside whenever possible due to limited parking spaces.
PM - ππ - Curbside Pick Up
- The pick-up lane next to the curb is for a quick pick-up. Drivers must remain in the vehicle.
- Please pull all the way up, leaving no empty spaces to help with traffic flow. Your student will talk to your car and meet you where you are in the loop.
- Cautiously re-enter the flow of cars when you are ready to pull away from the curb.
- Stay in the circle driveway, following it around the perimeter of the parking lot.
PM - Park and Picking Up πΆπ»ββοΈπ
- If you are picking up your child at the end of the school day, you may meet your child at a designated spot on the sidewalk in front of the building. Use the crosswalk to escort your child from the front sidewalk to your parked car.
- There should never be a child crossing the parking lot without being accompanied by an adult.
π Bell Schedule π
Full Day: 9:04 am - 4:07 pm
- 9:04 is the first bell, teachers welcome students into class.
- 9:09 is the tardy bell. If you arrive after 9:09, your child will be marked tardy and you must come sign your child into the office. After 10 tardies you will receive a documented letter from the district.
