HES Tailgate
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for last Friday night’s elementary football tailgate! It was wonderful seeing so many of our school families come together, share some laughs, and show off their school spirit before the big game. If you missed out—or just want to relive the fun—be sure to watch our recap video featuring some of the best highlights and smiling faces from the night!
Military Appreciation Night
What an honor it was to see 5 of our amazing elementary students walk the field at the high school football game on September 11! They represented their fathers and brothers who serve in the military with such pride and courage. What a meaningful moment for our entire community!

Kindergarten Learning Letters
This week Ms. Wallace's kindergarten class added another four letters to their practice, and the students are taking on “chaining” - sounding out 2 and 3 letter words, then swapping one letter each go, to read a series of words! They are working hard and becoming chaining champions!
1st Grade Human Bodies
Mrs. Baker's first grade class been learning about the five different human body systems including skeletal, muscular, digestive, circulatory, and nervous.
The kids ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! They made the human body systems with lots of different materials to be interactive. The skeletal system was made with pasta, the muscular system with twizzlers, the digestive system with pipe cleaners, the circulatory system with paper and foam hearts, and the nervous system with glitter and clay brains!
2nd Grade Johnny Appleseed Day
Mrs. Baker's 2nd grade class celebrated Johnny Appleseed day. Mrs. Baker surprised the class with apple pie in a cup while they read the story of his life. Not everyone was a fan of the apple pie, but they at least liked the ice cream on top!!!
3rd Grade Brew Crew
This past week Ms. Baum's third grade students launched a wonderful new hands-on learning initiative at our school! THE BREW CREW! The Brew Crew sold cold brew coffee and iced chai tea to our teachers and staff, delivering custom orders right to classroom doors. This program is designed to provide students with a fun, practical, learning experience right in our school environment where they build communication and social skills, practice real-world math, strengthen following directions and spread joy :) We are so proud of our 3rd graders for taking on this leadership role and can't wait to see the Brew Crew in action again!
Lead Like a Ranger
This week, our students learned about paradigms—our points of view or the ways we see the world around us.
Second Grade drew how they can succeed with the Paradigm of Leadership and Potential: Everyone can be a Leader and Everyone has a Genius.
Want to bring these concepts home? Check out this Paradigms resource to learn more about Leader in Me paradigms and simple ways to engage your family!

Mission Statement
Every Ranger, Every Reason, Every Day!
EVERY RANGER. This phrase is meant to include everyone—every student, every staff member, every graduate and every community member. All of us working together.
EVERY REASON. The primary focus of every school system is the academic achievement of all students. Our staff and, by extension, our community take on the challenge of doing even more for our students. We educate the whole child. Whatever the need, whatever the issue, whatever the REASON we are going to work together and do the best we can for each other.
EVERY DAY. Thank you to our HLSD community for making our students a priority every day, and for always pitching in to help one another
