Digital Onboarding Part 2 - DEADLINE EXTENDED
We’ve received your feedback and enacted it into Part 2 of the Digital Onboarding. You will now have the option to “test out” of the sections. You can skip to the quizzes or assignments for each topic and if you achieve the minimum score you may proceed to the following section. Completion of Part 2 will be due January 15, 2021. Part 2 is focused on streamlining hybrid learning and taking some of the district resources to the next level. NOTE: you can find part 2 in the Digital Onboarding course you joined in August. If you did not join the courses in Aug, you can click on the link that describes you below.
FRIENDLY REMINDER: Only the highest score from all your QUIZ attempts will be displayed after submitting...the grade will change when you answer the questions correctly.
No More Flash
Flash is an old multimedia support software that many online games, video rich websites and desktop applications have used to deliver their content. Back in 2017 Adobe announced that they would stop supporting Flash after Dec. 31, 2020. They did this so that the companies that used Flash for their websites and applications would have 3 years to reprogram and upgrade to newer technology like HTML5. Some software developers have decided not to update their software. As a result their programs no longer run on most mobile devices and on newer versions of our internet browsers. Aldine is moving as quickly as possible to replace old technology. But there's still a lot of old equipment on our campuses. You may find that some older websites, games and applications will run on some computers. But as those computers get updated these will stop working.
Resources for Current Events
The Social Studies and Digital Learning Departments have created a document that can be used should teachers inquire about resources they can use to objectively teach content related to that event.
Many resources relate to concepts around the event (i.e. rule of law, peaceful transfer of power); whereas others directly address the event.
We have also linked in articles for parents to assist in having difficult conversations with their children about that event.
You can access the Google Document here. Be advised that this is a live document, and we will be adding appropriate and credible resources as they are located.
