BASH Positivity Committee
Meet Gillian Ricci • BASH Junior • Positivity Committee Writer
Hello, BASH! My name is Gillian Ricci, and I am an 11th grader here at Boyertown Area Senior High. I am so excited and grateful to have the opportunity to report on the kindness, positivity, and good things happening throughout our school community!
So, what is Positivity Patrol?
Positivity Committee is a program run by two of our school counselors, Ms. Byrne and Dr. McArthur, along with our principal, Mr. Sparks! Through this program, teachers and staff have the opportunity to nominate acts of kindness they witness throughout our school! Kindness is always encouraged, and whether it is recognized or not, we appreciate all our students do to keep our school environment a positive one. This program is designed to further that mission and shine some light on students who embody and demonstrate kindness, effort, leadership, respect, and strong character!
A Little About Me
I am a junior at BASH, and one of my biggest passions is civic engagement and working toward positive change. I am involved in Youth and Government, where I am serving as this year's Vice President, and I plan to run for a statewide leadership position in November. I am also involved in our school's Link Crew.
Outside of School
When I'm not at school, I love spending time with my friends. If I am not hanging out with them, you can probably find me working or thrifting!
Why Positivity Committee?
Anyone who knows me knows that quotes have always helped me find a little light during difficult days. That is exactly what I hope to bring to Positivity Patrol—to shine a light on the people and moments that make our school community special. Sometimes, the smallest reminders can have the biggest impact.
I cannot wait to continue highlighting the incredible acts of kindness happening throughout BASH and celebrating the students and staff who make our school such a special place!
Stay positive, BASH! ❤️🖤

Meet our Positivity Patrol Recipients from the past weeks, and learn about the awesome acts of kindness they did!
Congratulations Daniel Yang, National Merit Commended Scholar!
Meet Victor Sanchez Avila!
Victor was nominated for the support he showed his fellow classmate! When instructed to take out their notebooks for class, Victor noticed his classmate did not have a notebook. Without hesitation, Victor offered a notebook to his classmate to prepare them for class! For this kindness, Victor was given a gift card to Redners!
Meet Carter Smith!
Carter was nominated for his responsibility when revealing an issue he found with the Student Service's Fundraiser website. He reached out to the Class of 2029 advisor, Mrs. Benning, because his family member was almost over charged with a shipping cost error. In his email, he stated that he "just wanted to bring it to your attention so it doesn’t happen to anyone else". Not only did this save Mrs. Benning a lot of unnecessary work and money due to this error, but he also saved his classmates and their families as well! To show our appreciation for this act of kindness, Carter was given a Starbucks gift card to enjoy!

Class of 2027 Survey
Senior Parents, we need your help!
Please ask your senior if they have completed their senior survey. If they have, there is no need to submit their response again. If they haven’t, please encourage them to click on the link and submit. The Senior Survey link can be found in the Class of 2027 Google Classroom, and in copies of the Senior Presentation shared at the beginning of the year. If your student is unable to find the link they should email their assigned counselor.
The school counseling department uses this beginning of the year senior survey to initiate meetings with each senior on their caseload. The point of these meetings is to ensure your student is meeting all the graduation requirements and has the information they need to take any next steps after graduation. The sooner we can meet with them, the better! Thank you in advance for your support.

Spread Kindness, Support Our BASH Students!
Student Services at BASH helps make sure our students have access to the everyday essentials they need to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. The BASH Kindness Project is hosting a T-shirt fundraiser to help keep Student Services stocked for the 2026 school year! Funds raised will go toward providing students with necessities such as personal care products and other essential items for students who may not have easy access to them.
Sometimes a small act of kindness can make a BIG difference. By purchasing a T-shirt, you're not just getting something to wear, you're helping a BASH student get something they need. Every shirt purchased helps us continue building a school community where students feel supported, cared for, and never embarrassed to ask for help.

Hallway Pass System
BASH Students & Families,
Our goal is to minimize the number of students in the hallways and restrooms while increasing the time students spend in the classroom. As a result, BASH will be continue with the color-coded lanyard hallway pass system from the 2026-2027 school year. Each classroom has been provided with two lanyards that are color coded and labeled for the classroom. Students will be required to utilize the restroom assigned to their classroom while also signing out. Each restroom has been equipped with hooks outside that correlate to the max capacity of the restroom. Once the hooks are filled with lanyards, students must remain outside until someone exits to enter. In addition to all restrooms being open in the building, single use restrooms in attendance, nurse, art, and other areas of the building will continue to be available. Students who need to go to the nurse or counseling, will be provided a paper pass by the teacher. As a reminder, per BASD School Board Policy 237, the board prohibits the use of electronic device in locker rooms, bathrooms, health suites, and other changing areas at any time. Failure to comply with Board Policy 237 will result in automatic suspension.
Thank you,
BASH Admin.

Students may NOT use their electronic devices during any other course, including study hall. Students are expected to have their devices away in their bag, or utilize a classroom wall caddy, at the start of class. Students may NOT have their device out at any time during instruction (bell to bell), nor when they leave the classroom, unless they are not returning. There are no warnings. Students will be expected to follow this policy starting on the first day of school. Failure to comply will result in a detention for each offense. Students will be provided wired headphones during the first week of school that can be used for educational purposes in the classroom as instructed by the teacher. Patterns of infractions will result in progressive disciplinary action.

BASH Discipline Reminders
Dear Students,
It is the goal of BASH to foster good work habits and promote self-discipline. In order to do so, the administration will respond to inappropriate student behaviors through one or more of the following: denial of any privileges, school service, study hall, detention, community service, in-school suspension (ISS), out of school suspension (OSS), expulsion, or placement of the student in an alternative educational setting which could include the BASD Virtual program.
In certain cases, notification of the local police department may also be warranted. When consequences are issued, the administration will consider a student’s intent, cooperation, past behavior, and honesty. Students who are dishonest will receive more severe consequences than students who are cooperative and honest. In addition, students who repeatedly violate the same rule(s) will receive more severe consequences.
Other examples of behavior that could warrant discipline are abusive language, being in an unauthorized area, disruptive behavior, repeatedly being unprepared for class, leaving an area without permission, and loitering in the building. The following are examples of disciplinary actions that could result in a 10 day Out of School Suspension (OSS) which includes an Informal Hearing and removal for 45 school days from the building: Fights, Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Weapons, Threats, Institutional Vandalism, and possession/use/distribution of Drugs/Alcohol. These infractions are also examples of behaviors that could lead to expulsion.
These lists are not meant to be comprehensive. The administration reserves the right to issue student discipline, withhold activities, and/or suspend students that commit any inappropriate act while under school jurisdiction. This may include but is not limited to, dances, school trips, student parking, and any other school-related functions. This model is designed to become progressively more severe and to attempt to find a successful consequence. For this reason, students are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions and learn from their mistakes as they develop into productive citizens.
We encourage all students to familiarize themselves with the updated discipline resolution procedures in the student handbook. It is important for everyone to understand their rights and responsibilities in maintaining a positive and respectful school environment.
Thank you,
BASH Admin.
