In celebration of National FFA Week, Parke Heritage High School had the pleasure of hosting District VII officers Calvin Myers and Chloe Inman. Their visit provided an opportunity for students in Mr. Colton McMullen’s and Mrs. Hallie Helderman’s agriculture classes to engage in meaningful activities focused on teamwork and leadership.

Serving as the District President, Calvin is a member of the Bloomfield FFA Chapter. As the District Reporter, Chloe hails from the Cloverdale Chapter. One of the highlights of their visit was the engaging teamwork activity known as the "human knot." This exercise challenged students to work collaboratively to untangle themselves from a physical knot, fostering communication, problem-solving, and cooperation among participants.

Additionally, the district officers participated in the chapter’s Farmer Olympics, an event organized by FFA members. This competition tested students' skills in various agricultural-related events.

Each year, FFA chapters around the country celebrate National FFA Week. It’s a time to share what FFA is and the impact it has on members every day.

Parke Heritage Middle School FFA members participated in several activities during the week to promote their chapter and agriculture.

The chapter members held a “Kiss the Sheep'' event. Students voted for staff members to be the lucky ones to kiss the sheep. Mrs. Melissa Gillogly was the staff member who received the most money in her vote jar and was the first one to kiss the sheep. Also, having the honor to kiss the sheep were Mrs. Ashley Dooley, Mrs. Lisa Wrightsman as well as FFA members Max Jeffries and Alisa McMullen. The members also hosted three events with a student from each grade and a staff member. These events included straw bale toss, water bucket carry and feed sack race. The sixth grade won the most events.

Students and staff were also encouraged to participate in various themed dress-up days.
