March is a wonderful time to focus on the character trait of perseverance—the ability to keep going even when things are challenging. At school, our students are learning that mistakes are part of growth and that effort, determination, and a positive attitude help them achieve their goals. We are proud of the hard work our students show each day as they continue to learn, grow, and push through challenges.

We are also incredibly grateful for the continued support from our families. Your encouragement at home, involvement in school activities, and partnership with our staff make a tremendous difference in the success of our students and our school community. Thank you for all you do to help our students shine.

Together, we will keep moving forward with perseverance and pride this spring!

THANK YOU TO Webb Dentistry for Sponsoring our Cafeteria GOAT

We want to recognize the class that best exemplifies being the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) in the cafeteria. Each week, the winning class will earn the honor of hosting our GOAT in their classroom to celebrate their achievement. We will definitely need a pretty cool name for him as well.

How Classes Earn the GOAT:

This isn't just about being quiet; it’s about mastering life skills. Classes earn the award by consistently:

  • Being Respectful: Waiting politely in line and using polite manners.

  • Taking Ownership: Cleaning up after themselves and reporting hazards.

  • Self-Regulation: Using inside voices and staying in their designated spots.

  • Proper Etiquette: Using utensils correctly and eating appropriately.

  • Following Safety: Listening to instructions and keeping the environment safe.

I am very pleased with the effort RES kids have been putting forth throughout the school year as they work toward being healthy and fit!

It’s great to see them setting healthy goals and working hard to reach them.

You can set a good example for your child by eating right and making physical activity a priority for your family. Here are a few ideas from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics:

  • Fit activities to your child’s interests. If your child loves reading, walk or ride bikes to the library.

  • Engage your child in planning active family outings. Explore new places together.

  • Involve your child in both inside and outside household tasks, and praise them for helping out.

  • Prioritize good sleep habits. Elementary age children should get at least 10 hours of sleep each night.

  • Eat real food from the food groups and try to decrease the amount of processed foods your family eats.

  • While adding more physical activity into your family’s routine, consider ways to decrease screen time, such as limiting TV and other screen time to 2 hours a day or less and not allowing TV watching in their bedrooms.

Thanks for all you do at home to encourage your children to make healthy choices.

Music Notes:

Third Grade students are continuing to learn about Classical Music and it's famous composers. They are becoming scholars at telling me about each composer and their music.

Fourth Grade is learning how the Tempo of music affects our recorder playing, as well as the energy of the music. Italian music terms are fun to learn and see what they mean in English. Also, using a metronome to find the tempo of a song has been a fun activity as well!

Fifth Grade is learning about the French composer Camille Saint-Saens and how his life events influenced his music. He was very popular as a performer and composer but several tragedies in his life changed how he wrote music and how it sounded. Ask your fifth grader how they think his music changed!

Please join us for the Ringgold Singers Spring Concert "And The Oscar Goes To..." Friday, March 20. Make sure to return your permission slip and $3 so you can attend the spring show at RHS Theater. We will travel over to watch our classmates perform at 9:00 AM, so get your permission slip returned ASAP! Friends and families can join us for the evening concert at 7:00 PM. $4 for Adults $3 for students.

Mark your calendars for these upcoming library events:

World Book Day on March 7th will celebrate the joy of reading. As part of the celebration, four students will receive a book by Dave Pilkey, renowned author of the Captain Underpants and Dog Man series, as part of our library recognition program.

Read Across America 3/2 - 3/6

This or That? Students and teachers get to decide on their favorite dress up style for Read Across America, March 2-5!!

Then on Friday, dress as your favorite book character. No masks, blood or gore. Keep it PG and school appropriate.

In a joint effort with the Catoosa County Library, our school system is collecting gently used books. Students may bring in books from 3/2 - 3/18. Books will be picked up on the 18th and delivered to the public library for a book giveaway on April 23rd.

We're also preparing for our Read-a-thon from April 6th to 16th, encouraging students to maintain consistent reading habits by reading at least 6 nights each week. We have some fabulous prizes for participating students. Prize tiers will be based on minutes read and monetary donations.
