On the Road to Indy
Members of the Sisseton FFA chapter attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis along with other SD chapters last week. Tyler, Lauren, Abbie, and Andrew made great memories and learned a lot while spending time in convention sessions, exploring the college and career fair, and touring Beasley's Orchard to learn about sustainable farming and agritourism. The group was chaperoned by chapter advisor, Courtney Schaefer.
FFA members are also preparing to compete at the District Leadership Development Events in Doland next Monday. Wish them luck with their parliamentary procedure, ag sales, marketing plan, and other fall leadership events.
Bowling! Bowling! Bowling!
Bowlers Show Their Best!
Eleven students represented SHS at the State Bowling Tournament last weekend in Aberdeen. Receiving a gold award were Vash, Miles, Royce, Ashlyn, and Vicky. Silver medals went to Jacob, Tina, and Scarlette. CeeJay and Tre took home bronze, and Jorelle won a 5th place ribbon. Congrats and High Fives to all the participants!
A Note from the Tech Deparment--
We have been having to replace too many chargers lately. Please take care and do not tightly wrap your cords around the box. This breaks the cords internally over time, and then the chargers quit working. Please gather the cords on one end and use the velcro strap to hold them together as shown in the photo.
Celebrating the Seasons!
SHS celebrated Halloween and Day of the Dead with lots of enthusiasm!
Students in Ms. Chan's biology class experimented with spooky cellular respiration while Mrs. Nordquist's Spanish I students learned more about how Latin America celebrates Dia de los Muertos by making "ofrendas" to recognize famous Spanish-speakers in history.
Students and staff in all classes enjoyed dressing up and partaking in Halloween fun on Thursday with spooky, silly, and sweet costumes.
Singing with the State
Last weekend, eight students from Sisseton traveled to Sioux Falls with Mr. Herrington to learn and perform at the South Dakota All State Choir and Orchestra concert at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. Under the direction of Dr Jeffery Redding from UCF, all the students rapidly put together a list of challenging music that pushed their musical ability and also made them think critically as humans. On November 2nd, about 1100 students performed for the All-State Concert.
A special congratulations goes out to the participates selected from Sisseton; Everleigh, Mahree, Beth, Chesnie, Hank, Owen, Jack, and Rylan, as well as alternates Justin and Kaylee.
Homework Help
Stay caught up with your homework and grades by participating in Homework Help every Thursday in the SHS library from 3:20-5:00 pm. Come for a quiet space to work and extra support from teachers.
