MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS

Dear LMSA students and families,

We are very excited to welcome you back! We hope your summer was filled with memorable moments. Last week, student schedules we sent via email along with a family-friendly version of their current progress toward graduation. This level of transparency aims to increase understanding and empower you to plan their next steps toward graduating. Parents/guardian, we encourage you to review your student's schedule with them and help them understand the operational changes happening across our school and district.

If you believe a schedule change is necessary, the schedule change request form is the only way to submit a request for consideration. The form was included in the email with the documents mentioned above. Requesting a schedule change does not guarantee one will be granted. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to change schedules based on preferences (like preferred lunch periods or teachers). Please follow the process to help us address 'need-based' issues. Schedule changes will only be made to:

  • Ensure students meet CPS graduation requirements,
  • Acknowledge credits earned over the summer, or
  • Address scheduling irregularities (such as duplicate courses or double lunch periods).

We have filled almost all of our staffing openings; we are still looking for a lifeguard. Please help us spread the word about our part-time lifeguard position to anyone you know who is qualified. As you may know, onboarding timelines for CPS candidates vary. Almost all of our new staff will complete onboarding just in time for the first day of school. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to make this school year successful!

Onward & upward,

Principal Banks

Spirit/Cheer Tunnel for AC Students!!

Dear AC Families,
We’re excited to welcome our Academic Center students back for another impactful school year! To make their first day extra special, we’re inviting AC parents to help us form a spirit squad to greet students with spirit and celebration as they arrive. The first day of school is August 18, 2025!

Here’s how you can join the fun:

  • 📍 Meet in Keeler Hall on the first day of school
  • 📣 Help cheer on our students as they enter
  • 📷 Celebrate with photos to capture the moment

Arrival & Parking:

Please park along Damen Avenue between 59th & 63rd and walk to the school with your student for a shared start to the day. Parents can arrive in Keeler by 7:40a and plan to depart by 8:10a.
In order to join the cheer tunnel on the first day of school, you must complete the following two steps:
1. All participating parents must register as an LMSA Level 2 Volunteer by Monday, August 11, 2025. https://tinyurl.com/LMSA-Volunteer. Please bring a government-issued ID when checking in at the school.
2. Once you complete the level 2 Volunteer form, you must complete this RSVP Google form.
We have a limit of 30 parents for the cheer tunnel/spirit squad on the first day of school.
You will not be able to participate in the spirit squad if you do not complete these steps.
Let’s start the year with Eagle energy and AC pride! 🦅
