One initiative we have started this month is the Thoughtful Tiger! We are celebrating our students who are using CARES to help and think of others. Please see the picture of our thoughtful Tiger boards! Congratulations to our Thoughtful Tigers of the Week, Kenzie Woodson and Liam Black!
Congratulations to our spelling bee champion, Apollo Mott! He will be representing SES at the division spelling bee in February. Thank you to all of those whom contributed to the success of the students that took the challenge to test their spelling in front of others. We are proud of each and everyone of them!
ACPS has partnered with UVA Health to exhibit student artwork in the main hospital lobby, directly across from the elevators. Congratulations to Mia Jackson whose Veterans Day eagle artwork was selected for display at the UVA Children's Hospital through March 3, 2026!
The nomination window for the 2025-2026 Golden Apple Awards is open until January 26, 2026! Anyone can nominate a teacher for a Golden Apple: students, families, community members, or other educators.

Holiday Movie Night
It’s Movie Night at Yancey!
The PTO is hosting a FREE Holiday Movie Night on Thursday, December 18th at 6:30 PM at Yancey! We’ll be showing the animated favorite Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch!

PTO is about supporting our students, staff, and community! Our next meeting is Thursday, January 15, 6-7 PM, outside the gym. Childcare provided for school-aged children. All are welcome!
