Trail Blazer Bulletin Feb 23-27

Dear Trail Blazer Community
Updated 25-26 Calendar
FISD will not be utilizing the designated bad weather days this year. Therefore, there will be no school for students on April 30 and May 1. We hope families enjoy this long weekend to rest and rejuvenate before the final weeks of the school year.
Final Week of Q3
This week, March 2–6, marks the final week of the third quarter.
Students and families are encouraged to review grades in HAC to ensure any missing assignments are resolved before the quarter ends. Missing work may appear with the following codes:
L – Late
ABS – Absent
Students must follow teacher deadlines for completing work and attend TBT tutorials when assigned to make up missing work.
Thank you for partnering with us to help students finish the quarter strong.
📝 Important: End-of-Year Assessment Schedule
Excused Absences: Students with an excused absence during a testing window will be permitted to complete a make-up exam the following week.
Unexcused Absences: Please be aware that students with unexcused absences will not be permitted to make up the exam.
Academic Impact: Failure to complete an EOY assessment can negatively impact a student’s GPA and may jeopardize their ability to receive full credit for the course.

Specific Assessment Details: For course-specific information, please review the Teacher/Course Q4 Assessment Plan.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping your student stay focused as we finish the year strong
Blood Drive - March 11
Our semi-annual blood drive will be happening Wednesday, March 11th. Each donor will have the opportunity to donate one pint of blood which can save up to three lives, whether it be patients of nearby hospitals or victims of unfortunate disasters. Community members, teachers, and students are able to donate. Seniors who donate twice in their senior year (or have an adult donate for them) are eligible for a honor cord from Carter blood care.
Must be at least 16 years old to give blood. Students under the age of 17 require parental consent.
Save time by completing your health questionnaire (QuickScreen) before arriving to the blood drive. QuickScreen must be completed on the day of your donation.
Contact Amanda Mosier at mosiera@friscoisd.org for info.

Are There Any Risks or Side Effects?
Sometimes people who donate blood notice a few minor side effects including feeling faint, lightheaded, dizzy, etc. due to the blood and fluid taken. However, these symptoms usually resolve quickly as your body immediately begins working to replace the lost fluid and red blood cells. There are steps you can take to improve your donation experience.
Before donation:
Have a good night’s sleep the night before
Eat healthy foods (avoid fatty foods like hamburgers, fries, ice cream)
Drink EXTRA fluids in the days and morning leading up to your donation (drink an extra 16oz of water just before your appointment)
After donating it is important to:
Sit and rest for a few minutes
Drink lots of fluids
Avoid strenuous physical activity such as hard workouts, heavy lifting, or athletics/games for the rest of the day
Consume iron-rich foods (red meat, fish, poultry, beans, spinach, iron-fortified cereals, raisins, and more) to help your body replace the lost blood.

Reminders
Your Feedback Matters: FISD Survey Opens March 2
Frisco ISD is conducting a survey from March 2nd through 15th to gather valuable feedback from students, parents, and staff about the 2025-26 school year. Be on the lookout for emails from Frisco ISD with a link to the survey beginning March 2, and don’t miss this opportunity to share your thoughts!
Restroom Vandalism: We Need Your Help
We are reaching out to ask for your partnership in addressing recent vandalism in our campus restrooms. We’ve seen significant damage to fixtures, doors, and dispensers, as well as general misuse of supplies.
Why This Matters
Our goal is to keep restrooms clean, safe, and open. However, when vandalism occurs:
Restrooms must be closed for repairs, causing inconvenience for all students.
Funds meant for student programs and classrooms are redirected to cover repair costs.
We may have to limit access to protect the facility—something we want to avoid.
Our Request
We are investigating these incidents, and those responsible will face disciplinary action and repair costs. However, we would prefer to solve this through student pride. Please talk to your student about the importance of respecting shared spaces. Our expectation is simple: Use the restroom, take care of it, and leave it better than you found it. If students see something, we encourage them to say something. Silence protects the problem; speaking up protects the school. Thank you for your support in keeping our campus functional and respectful.
EOY Vacation Scheduling
Every instructional day counts. Unlike in recent years, student grades and assessments will now be collected through the very last week of school. The final instructional day of the 2025-2026 school year is on May 22, 2026. We know that families often plan trips in advance, but please avoid scheduling family travel before that date, as absences can affect learning and final grades.
You can review the 2025-2026 academic calendar here. Thank you for helping your student finish the year strong!
Staff Shout Outs
We encourage you to use this form to nominate a teacher or staff member who you believe deserves special recognition for their contributions. I look forward to sharing your “Staff Shout Outs” with the LT staff.
