Happy October! There are many fun events coming up this month. Parent teacher conferences is a wonderful time to connect school and home and continue working together towards one common goal: success for every student. If you haven't scheduled your conference with your child's teacher yet, you can through PowerSchool. If you need assistance, call the office and we can help! 815-648-2606. There are in person and virtual conference options available. Parent teacher conferences run in 20 minute increments. (Click the link at the bottom of this newsletter for more information).
We also have a very popular PTO event at the end of the month- Costume BINGO. Students may come dressed in their Halloween attire while playing BINGO. More information to come.
Our annual costume parade will take place on Friday, October 30th at 1:15. Parents and Families are welcome to come and spectate as students proudly parade in their costumes. We do have some parameters to follow in terms of costumes worn to school:
No weapons, no masks, no props, no make-up and no blood.
Thank you for adhering and understanding.
News from Greenwood
Delayed Response Fire Drill
Lockdown Procedures
The safety of your child and all children in schools, as well as the safety of the school staff is very important to us. In order to maintain a safe environment for our children, it is necessary that we practice our emergency and crisis response plans by having drills. On 10/23 we will practice our Lockdown Drill with the McHenry County Sheriff's office present. Whenever we practice these kinds of drills at school, teachers have thoughtful, age-appropriate conversations with their classes prior to the drills to review the procedures and tell them they are just for practice. As a parent, your child may want to share their experience with you. This is a good opportunity for you to reassure your child that the drills were a practice to keep them safe and to reinforce with them that the teacher is trained on how to protect them. As always, thank you for working with us to ensure the safety of Greenwood students and staff. We also appreciate the McHenry County Sherriff's office and Woodstock Fire Department for being such strong community partners.
