With 14 years of instructional experience, including 11 within DeSoto ISD, Stephanie Hamilton has become a beloved and impactful early childhood educator at Amber Terrace Early Childhood Learning Center, where she has served for eight years. Known for her creativity, dedication, and deep compassion for her students, Hamilton is committed to laying strong educational foundations for the district’s youngest learners.
Hamilton is fueled by the powerful "ah-ha" moments—when a child who has been struggling with a skill suddenly grasps it and beams with pride. For her, there’s no greater reward than witnessing a student’s breakthrough and celebrating their success together. She sees early education as more than just teaching—it’s about shaping self-confidence and igniting a lifelong love of learning.
Her inspiration stems from knowing that she is the very first stop on a child’s academic journey. She understands the critical role early learning plays in setting the tone for everything that follows and takes that responsibility to heart. One of her most treasured memories is when a student, previously uncertain and full of “I can’t” moments, finally wrote her name independently after months of tracing.
That victory brought the child's mother to tears and reminded Stephanie of the deep impact educators have not just on students, but on families.
Hamilton is intentional in meeting today’s learners where they are by integrating technology in meaningful ways. Through tools like Boom Cards, she creates engaging, gamified lessons that both students and parents love. These interactive platforms provide instant feedback and reinforce foundational skills in fun, memorable ways—turning learning into play and success into habit.
Being named the Amber Terrace ECLC Teacher of the Year was a surprise and a deeply humbling experience for Hamilton, who often prefers to let her work speak quietly from the background. To be recognized by her peers for her instructional excellence has given her a renewed motivation to continue giving her all—110% every day—to the students and families she serves.
Stephanie Hamilton is a reminder that greatness in education often begins with the quiet, consistent work of those who build the strongest foundations.
